In Yogi's day most athletes had to have jobs in the off season to support their families.

I don't know why I don't care much, but as far as I know they are coached by other players more professional than them!

Today, of course. There was a time when they were not wealthy or even enormous wealth generators, and paying a salary to a coach to train them full time would not be cost effective.
