How is it possible that they enter more than 1,000 in the tournament and in less than an hour there will be 100 left
I used to be in that group until I applied and got out

Which tournament are you talking about? Maybe its a very fast structure? Or a low value freeroll, where many players want to "go strong or go home" instead of wasting their time playing for pennies?

Many players register but do not play, and such inactive players are automatically removed after a certain period of time. Some poker rooms use this in some freerolls.

It's not clear what tournament you're talking about. I'm guessing this is a hyper-tournament where the number of players increases every few minutes, so a lot of people go all-in.

It could be that this tournament is of a type, e.g. turbo, that makes players' amortization faster, there are such competition types where the point is not slow play, but rather players who like faster play are addressed.

Blind levels go up fast now in a lot of tourneys... If you miss a couple spots youre suddenly 10bb and praying. Then one cooler you have and you go straight to the lobby.
