The early stages of tournaments are the ultimate patience test, especially when the cards you get look like leftovers from the deck!
Personally, what helps me most is treating the beginning like a “getting to know each other” phase, not a rushed marriage 😅
I always remind myself that a tournament is a marathon, not a 100-meter sprint. Playing calmly, choosing hands carefully, and avoiding the “hero mode” from level one is the smartest move.
And whenever I feel myself getting too eager, I ask a simple question:
“Is this move actually smart, or am I just bored of folding?”
Most of the time, the answer is… boredom 🤣
