I tried doing the same across two monitors and kept timing out hands just because I weren't noticing them. I've returned the 2nd minitor since then but may give it another shot some day as stacking defo has a negative impact on my play.

I still tile for 6max as I never exceed 12 tables for that, I mostly just go for 6-8. The psedo awareness as you put it is defo a plus, stacking is less like playing hands but more like playing unconnected streets of poker sometimes.

I usually play 2 or 3 but since I play PLO8 it isn't always easy to even find 3 full tables to play at.

I've only been playing for a few months (micro buy-in tourneys and SNGs). This is what I do:

In regular tourneys and SNG:s I just went from playing 2 tables at once to playing 4 tables at once. I have found that it keeps me from playing too many hands out of boredom.

In heads up SNGs I never play more than two tables at once, well bc there's only one oppenent which requires more of my attention.

In double up SNGs I might play up to 6 tables at once if I'm feeling alert and focused bc I can play more on autopilot as it's more about surviving than anything else.

(In cash I play no tables at all. I want to get a good hang of tournaments/SNGs first.)

A few of my friends who got me into poker will grind 36 tables at once. It looks unreal, I don't get how they do it. But they have been playing for a living for 5 years.

I hate stacking, I can't follow the action and that's important to me. I don't need to follow every action but you get a feel for where you are in a hand and also a good feel for your opponents. Allows me to act quicker and stay focused.

How many tables can you play and profit? Real Question

I like to think i can play 4-6 but honestly i can only play 2 and free rolls get in the way really more than anything.

4 - 6 tables 6max, 7 if I'm swapping one out and bringing another one in. I have 2 monitors, I don't think I could handle not seeing all the action by stacking them. I'm often looking at how hands play out that I'm not a part of, and I also make a few notes.

Even with my new bigger screen the most I can play effectively is 4 at low stakes (6 with a hud) , but only 2 if higher stakes and no HUD. Then again I'm an OG on the wrong side of 40. I think if internet poker had been around when I was twenty- something I probably could have handled a lot more. If I play SNGs I try to stagger when I start them, that way I'm not playing short handed at too many tables at the same time.

You got any background information on that graph?
What players is it made up of? Sample size? Game? etc

Its just an example but its common knowledge that the average human's cognitive ability wanes beyond 9 games. Unless your Goosep of course.

Oh ye no doubt. Would be interesting if someone had somehow collected lots of data on this. HEM can filter your winrates with different numbers of tables but you'd need many many people all with similar (well converged) winrates for it to be accurate so would be a big ask.

There'd also be other things that would get in the way such as if we where to use all my hands 2years ago I 6tabled yet my winrate would likely not be as good as my 18tabling winrate as I was a worse player back then.

I'm with hutz. Starting a bankroll from nothing. Right now I do 10 when doing step 1's, 6 tables for step 2's, and 4 tables for step 3's.

Crap, just realized this was the cash game forum. Please ignore the above post. I'd delete it, but for some reason the edit button is not working for me.
