PLO preflop ranges

I play mostly NLHE and obviously in this game you should be 100% willing to stack off with AA preflop. What does your EV look like if you are stacking off with AAxx in PLO vs hands that have a lot of draw potential?

I'd suggest running through some simulations on poker odds calculators so you have an idea how equities run in Omaha versus NLHE. In Omaha, there is no equivalent of Aces pre-flop in Hold'Em and flopping a set is not nearly as powerful in Omaha if there are big draws available.

For reference pre-flop, AA45 no suits versus JT98ds looks like 48.62% for the aces and 51.38% for the JT98ds.

Top set against wrap straight draws and flush draw is a underdog -- for instance AATT versus QdJd7s8s on Td9d5s looks like 60% for the draw and 40% for the set.

There are a lot of good videos out there for players transitioning from NLHE to PLO that would be a great investment if you are planning on trying out PLO.

You are still a favourite but more towards the 55-60% favourite versus hands with good draws

i.e.
AA vs 7h8h9sTs is 54/46
AA vs TcJcQdKd 59/41

I tend to think of it as just another hand and lean heavily on what happens after the flop. I will get it in against some guys but for the most part I think of playable pre flop hands as being ranked close together.

There is definately less pre flop domination in Omaha. It helps to be double suited. I think it adds about 8% to your equity. Being willing to gamble
(when I think I have enough equity, which is pretty often) has helped me. I may just be getting lucky, so take that with a grain of salt.

Yeah would be nice to be in god mode with 18 Card Power Wraps, flush draws and backdoor flush draws. In reality more often a worse case hand to be against is like 14 card wrap with flush draw and no backdoor flush draw which is KdQdJs4c type hand and it is 48.6% so still favourite.

or 8 card and straight draw which could be AdJd9s8c which is 43.9%.

The problem with pairs is the 7 in 8 times you miss and when it is not top set.

When you have 10s for example 70% chance of overboard to your 10. So only 30% chance of top set. Which when oversetting you are losing big.

But yes I understand your point, you are not crushing like Hold'em.
Although, you are hot/cold on the flop like Holdem.

If you don't get them in preflop don't bother going crazy when u don't hit a set on the flop.. Also stay away from reraising KK/QQ type holdings for the most part.

I like when AA or KK hits a set on the flop.

I like to play just about everything til the flop if I can and the price is right ive beat aa kk best hand one time in Omaha.

PLO helps with NL but NL does NOT help with PLO. I can't even begin to answer your question without knowing what the xx cards are and if you are suited/double suited. It makes a huge difference between a playable hand and trash.

Novice PLO players will play any hand with a big pair/trash. This is a loser. For instance if you have AA72 and you don't hit your big set, you have nothing. No draws, no re-draws, just 1 pair.

PLO is a game of straights, flushes, and full houses. 1 pair doesn't cut it.

As far as shoving with a hand, I would suggest you don't. Always try to see a flop. You hit it, continue with the hand, you miss, fold.
