Short Stacked King Suited

I have found myself in this situation a couple of times and would like some advice.

I am short-stacked and I hold (Let's say) K9 suited. I am not one of the blinds. Caller in front of me raises blind which puts me all in. Do I call this and see what happens or wait until a better hand? I know that I may be leaving out information so any help would be appreciated. TKO

Depends.

If the player is raising from late...in particular the button (with no other action), then your K9 starts to look much better for a call.

Generally though... you want to be the first betting or raising to at least give yourself a little net fold equity.



NB short-stacked UTG K9 is a lot weaker than say 'folded to the button' Q7, when you are looking for a launch point.

Yes..in most situations you probably should. If you are that low staked, there are no point in waiting for a better hand.
I can think of only few times not to.
If you are just outside the money in a tourney and you think it will make a difference if you fold. Fold.
Or fold if you are in the money and folding will earn you a higher amount of money.

There's no action that will be best every time. When you're on a short stack, you eventually have to pick a hand to risk all your chips on, and you don't have lots of time to wait. K9s is a bit better than average, so not a great hand, especially against a raiser who has put you all in, which means you have zero fold equity. However, if the raiser is loose and/or playing the table bully, you my even be ahead. And if you're not, you still have decent odds if your cards are live.

Fold, fold, fold.

When you're down to only a few blinds left, you have to be the one who raises, not the one who calls a raise. Surely you call that raise with a strong hand, but K9s isn't it. Wait for the next hand and push that all-in instead. You're a bigger favorite to win doing that.

yeah you need as much fold equity as possible with K9 and even one caller cuts down on that

Of course how short stacked he is makes a diff. You could be so short stacked that you have little or no fold equity. And, if the blinds are coming up and you will be all in soon with no choice may make this a call. But like the others said if you still have enough to get fold equity then wait for a better spot, not necessarily a better hand.
