How do you feel about advertising gambling, such as online casinos?
Do you consider it acceptable to broadcast such advertisements on television and radio?
Do you consider it acceptable to place such advertisements on outdoor media, billboards, banners, building facades, public transport, and in the metro?
Do you consider it normal for popular figures, citizens of your country to promote certain online projects?

In Ukraine, there are strict restrictions on gambling advertising. Advertising on television and radio is only allowed at night, and outdoor advertising is completely prohibited. The involvement of popular and well-known people in such advertising is also prohibited.
What is the situation in this regard in your country?

For me, it's normal that there's advertising for gambling. Besides, everyone chooses whether to play or not. I know that in every country there are rules and restrictions on gambling, but in reality, it depends on the person whether they play or not.

In general, I have a neutral attitude toward gambling advertisements, just as I do toward any other advertisements. I think gambling advertisements are acceptable, provided that they are not repeated too often or too widely and are not too intrusive.

Some gambling advertising has reduced, as the targeting of young people is more efficent through socual media and influencers. Of course it's heavily regulated in the UK but probably makes little difference. People who are inclined will always find their way to risky behaviours.

I am against advertising gambling, just as I am against advertising cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. In my opinion, advertising gambling is simply irresponsible, as these advertisements can be seen by people who are currently struggling with addiction or by teenagers.

Gambling advertising laws, particularly in the Philippines, mandate that promotions contain clear, visible warnings that participants must be at least 21 years old. Ads cannot suggest skill influences game outcomes, nor present gambling as a way to earn money. Restrictions often include bans on sponsoring sports/events and limiting ads during primetime TV.

Advertising does not affect me personally. I cannot even remember when I last reacted to an advertisement in such a way that I bought a product or spent money on something else. I don't think that has ever happened in my life. For me, the best advertising is when I play and win. That is what guarantees that I will come back again and again.

The problem with it is that they advertise a false reality.

Have you ever seen a gambling ad that portrays losing?

In our lives, probably more than half of everything that exists is a false reality :)
I don't think anyone would come up with a plot or script for an advertisement where the client lost everything, including their apartment :)
......... although it should be noted that this would be an unusual marketing move.

I remember the Marlboro man out riding his horse in the mountains having a great time enjoying a cigarette,

The actor who portrayed the "Malboro Man" in print and television cigarette advertisements died of lung cancer at age 51 on July 1992. Some of his last words were : "Take care of the children. Tobacco will kill you, and I am living proof of it,"

In my opinion, there are goods and services that should not be advertised. These include weapons, tobacco, alcohol, medicines, soft drugs, intimate goods and services, and, in my opinion, gambling can also be included here.

Gambling is not entertainment for everyone. Therefore, in my opinion, advertising should be limited as much as possible.

Well... It all depends on how the advertising is done.

I really don't mind seeing casino ads everywhere as long as they don't spread lies and false promises...

Prohibition is never the answer... We should raise awareness among people who may have problems with gambling and have some form of remediation for these cases.

Regarding celebrities doing advertisements, I'm totally against it. These guys already have tons of money and shouldn't accept more money to promote something that is harmful to the population (like the "Tiger Games" casino-type games that became fashionable here in Brazil, where many influencers promoted them).

Here I see many famous people—mostly soccer players—involved with casino and poker sites. There are poker tournaments promoted by these famous people, and in some of them you can face them if you manage to reach the final table. We don’t have brick-and-mortar casinos here, but online casinos are everywhere—and so are the ads! I think there should be better regulation because this excessive advertising makes people want to gamble, and a lack of control can lead to addiction—which is never a good thing. On the other hand, poker tournaments have sparked interest in many people and helped them start successful careers as players. Good luck to you!

Well, since Lena has already outlined the rules for casino advertising in Ukraine, I won’t repeat them. I’m neutral about this kind of advertising and don’t see anything bad in it. Moreover, some of the commercials (which are often shown on YouTube) seem quite creative to me. :)

I generally have a bad attitude towards advertising, because for me every commercial is just a waste of my time. I don't like advertising, I never watch it, I always choose paid subscriptions without any advertising and I quite seriously believe that advertising for gambling is harmful to any society.

This is a rather detached position. Yes, you are right, everyone makes their own decision to play or not. But such advertising can be an additional incentive for players who have an addiction, or for those players who are in the stage of self-restraint.

The only problem is that such a thing as gambling advertising is quite difficult to regulate and this will most likely lead to manipulation and abuse by advertisers - operators of gambling sites or establishments.

Obviously you have a different attitude towards the game. I think a disciplined approach would offset any potential negative from such advertising, but the percentage of disciplined players is unfortunately very small.

I completely agree. I'm not against advertising in general, it's necessary to promote goods and services. But there are a number of things that definitely shouldn't be advertised because such advertising can potentially do more harm than good.

In fact, it's quite difficult to find a compromise. A ban is not the best option, but if it's difficult to regulate such advertising, if advertisers manipulate and abuse it, then in my opinion it's better to ban it altogether.

When famous people promote such projects, it only speaks of their immoral attitude towards others.

We see public figures all the time appearing in betting ads; I hope some of the profits go to humanitarian causes! Have a great weekend and good luck!
