Baccarat or Blackjack?

Those two games have a lot of similarities. But:

-- Which one is more fun to play?
-- Which one would you prefer to play if you had a nice bankroll?
-- Which one can make you more money if you happen to have a nice streak?

For me, the decisive factor in favoring Blackjack is this:

In Blackjack, you play with/against at least one other person, the dealer, at the table.
You have your cards, and only your hand determines the outcome of the game; you weigh your hand against the dealer's and
make your decision.
There is an interaction.

In Baccarat, you decide whether to call a Tie, Banker, or Player.
You're essentially playing for/against yourself (your own decision/bet), whether you guessed correctly or not.
At least, that's how it feels!

I agree on that point. In blackjack, you have more control on the outcome of the hand. I even have a feeling that baccarat is good when you're feeling lazy 🤪.

I have never played Baccarat, so my understanding of the rules and strategy is severely limited…with blackjack, the player can get close to 50/50 odds. Card counting in blackjack is NOT illegal…casinos don’t want you to do it because it cuts into profits. I have never heard that baccarat has good odds. I think I’ll stick with what I know…blackjack.

Baccarat is a unique game. It's primarily suitable for experienced gamblers willing to take risks and place large bets.Blackjack is more appealing than baccarat in many ways. Primarily because in this game, players don't rely on luck, but rather decide the outcome of the game themselves.

Blackjack has always been my casino game. I can usually double my money
In a couple of hours, and enjoy the crowds. never played baccarat for real money,
but Phil Ivey won 10 million, and you and many others can make 5000 nightly,
but I like to make my own decisions, so I will stick to blackjack.

I’d go for Blackjack myself. But Baccarat is definitely more exciting. However, if my bankroll were large enough, I might take a chance and go for Baccarat. But in the long run, it’s got to be Blackjack.

Totally agree.
Baccarat is also one of the best games for players, along with craps and Blackjack, where the house has a minimal edge.

That's precisely the most important difference between the two. In Blackjack, the player has more control, whilst the easiness of Baccarat makes it more of a game of chance.

True. Baccarat may look like a game of easy money, but luck has more to do with it., You really need to hit a nice streak in order to book a good win and know when to leave too. I think Blackjack is more fun too.

I think the same way too. Baccarat could be fun too, but only if you're winning. In Blackjack, it's possible to have fun even if you're losing.

It's the stupidest rule in casinos. You can calculate and count, but if you never win, they don't ban you. Only when you have a good run, add up your winnings by calculating and counting, and they kick you out of the casino.

I prefer Blackjack. I've never played Baccarat, but I have read over the threads that Chris posted for it. Interesting, and next time I go to a casino, I will open Chris's thread on my phone and see if I can make sense of it at a table.

I think I play quite well and, most importantly, I keep the game under control. I reckon I’ve got a better chance of a good result at blackjack.

Yeah, it's so unfair, but the problem is that you're on their premises. And that gives them the right to ban whoever they want.

That game kind of scared me before I discovered that it's just a stupid little game where you actually have nothing to do but place a bet and watch.

And you're probably right. At least you have some control as opposed to Baccarat where all you have to do is place a bet and watch the cards fall.

In Blackjack, there are several stages where you make decisions that will affect the outcome. In Baccarat, you simply place a bet and then it’s out of your hands. Blackjack also offers additional betting options. In Blackjack, for the ‘Blackjack’ combination, you can receive a payout greater than 1:1. The advantages are clear. I would choose blackjack.

Totally right. And there are also the splits and the double-downs. Blackjack is definitely a lot more fun to play, you don't risk being bored that's for sure.

I think the odds are fairly even for both games, ... I like blackjack more because there's more strategy

for the player, baccarat is fun but kinda plays itself so not much for me to do, .... same reason I don't

play slots much, it's just pushing a button.... do I even need to be there really🤷

It depends on my mood. If I can’t be bothered to play, I’ll go for baccarat. It’s all quite simple and you don’t really need to think too hard. But if I’m up for a bit of a challenge, I’ll go for blackjack.

Yeah, I could consider Baccarat as a pure gambling game, just like roulette or slots where you don't really need to do anything but bet (Spin) and wait.
