If the game is so simple, why is card counting indispensable, a skill that casinos penalize or prohibit, for success? Is it ethical to adopt a technique that could result in expulsion, if that is the only real way to win? The simplicity seems like a trap!

blackjack looks simple, but without card counting the odds are against the player. Card counting is not cheating, it’s just using math and memory, but casinos ban it because it gives players an edge. Ethically, it’s a personal choice: casinos protect their profits, and players try to protect their money.

Blackjack is a game of chance, and anything that alters that probability and improves a player's chances of winning is considered cheating.

Well one might just as easily ask why casinos use so many decks in blackjack....,

they do it in order to defeat the players ability to recall how many high or low cards are out,

is that cheating?..., blackjack is a simple game of cards, make 21 or a hand that beats the dealer,

it's a game of odds that's easy to learn and has a very low house edge... normally🤔👍

Not really understand why card counting should be forbidden in such a game. Casinos only do that to protect from possible losses while they happily take the money vice versa.
