I live in Ukraine, and here casinos and gambling halls act as tax agents. This means that gambling service providers pay tax on behalf of players by deducting the appropriate amount from their winnings. This means that players do not need to worry about paying tax themselves, as the service provider will take care of it for them. How does it work in your country?

With Trumps new tax regs it makes it really hard to be a winning player after taxes.

Only 90% of losses can be deducted against winnings.

Most winning gamblers operate with a high volume low margin, so this makes a lot of winning players losers out of the gate.

15% on the net amount and the charge is made by the betting platform itself, which withholds Income Tax at source before paying the prize to the player.

In Germany, you don’t have to pay taxes on gambling if it’s just a hobby and not a steady, regular source of income you could live on. But if gambling turns into a consistent activity, your winnings may be taxed as business income.

So far, I have never been taxed on anything I won. I go to the cashier and always get the full amount; that's in the casinos.

I hope it'll stay that way though, because the government asked PS for 30% of any winnings by Moroccan players according to what I heard. The sure thing is that PS discontinued its services here starting last August 19th.

The taxation on casino or poker profits is a dad story . I mean to win once sth good , then the system cones and wants a slice of the pie . And only when you win . When you lose they dgaf . They calculate the profits here in Greece in a daily basis , profits minus losses , so the losses of other unprofitable days are not being taken into account . Nasty thieves . They say the 10-20% tax is not much , but profits from betting are not the same as a wage , they are not stable and guaranteed , you have many downswings .

Nothing after winnings in Hungarian casinos.
I don't know about online winnings, because I've never won such a large amount that I have to think about it.
online poker is a gray zone in Hungary.

The first €3,000 is tax-free. €75,100 (from €3,000 to €78,100) is taxed at 25.5%, which is €19,150.50. €11,900 (over €78,100) is taxed at 33%,I have this in Latvia.

0% tax in Australia, except as PO says, if it is your main source of income.

I have no idea how that works in my country. And as long as I'm not really wining very big amounts regularly I think I don't have to care about it.

Considering all the other games (outside poker) I really don't have to worry about taxes. All gambling is run under strict supervision and if I'd win the lottery for, say 10 million, I wouldn't have to pay any taxes on that. Very simple.

Here in Brazil there is no automatic deduction by providers, it is the players who have to collect the taxes due, the rate here is 20%.

Here in Hungary, personal income tax must be included in the annual tax return.
