That's a good point. But from what I know, poker pros or most of them at least, avoid Roulette and Slots. When they play something other than poker, they play blackjack or baccarat. Some of them bet on sports too, but that's another subject.

In a very known poker professional's book, I read that a disciplined poker player should never walk through the Slot machines' aisles when leaving or going to the poker room.

In poker you can be smarter than other people, in roulette or slots you can't beat other people, at best you can find flaws in slotmachine programming but at that point it's not gambling anymore.

I disagree. If you are a professional cardiac surgeon, for example, then I think you probably shouldn't give up your high blood pressure medication :)
Everything is relative. A professional poker player can go out to eat after work, buy clothes, go to the cinema, or have fun playing slots.
:)

You have a point. But the professional cardiac surgeon, do not play poker while practicing a surgery.

I think both are gambling-related, and if you’re into poker, you’re not necessarily going to be into casinos, but you definitely have a better chance than the average person

Both good points!

From what I've seen so far Cardschat is not becoming a slots/roulette advocate, but rather taking advantage of an investment opportunity that just happens to have come about because, like it or not, poker often takes place in the same venue as other forms of more luck based gambling. I mean Cardschat would definitely look out of place on the International Order of Cardiac Surgeons website, or a Big Pharma website. :) Not so much on a casino website.

And I'm sure most professional poker players are not playing slots or roulette while they're in a poker game. :)

The reality is, most of the members here (myself included) are not professionals, but rather recreational players. And I for one look at casino games as a different type of recreation/entertainment. You can decide which you will take more seriously, or if you want to get into any of them at all.

Me for instance, I prefer poker above all else, because it more heavily relies on my knowledge and strategy that I play. Likewise, I like blackjack for this reason too - I have some control over the outcome (though in both games there is still an element of luck). Slots, I'm not really into, because I find it boring. But some people like the excitement of the sounds and sights, as well as the potential to hit a big jackpot.

The bottom line is, to each their own. Everyone will have their own perspective. Why not give players more options? :)

It is likely that there are professional players who are sceptical about all games except poker, roulette, blackjack, football or basketball, boxing and Formula One. And what does that mean?
It means absolutely nothing :)
Everyone decides for themselves what they like best, and everyone has the right to make their own choice. Anyone who wants to be a professional player just needs to work on themselves and not think about things that simply don't matter :)

Casino & Cardschat, to me, are actually a perfect partnership.
Poker is a casino game. House will always win with the rakes & players can just strategize with betting whilst the final result depends on luck... same with casino games.

I think if a professional poker player plays roulette, it only proves that he can afford it :)
If I met a professional player in a casino, I would just think that he came to relieve stress and have fun. And I would definitely not think that a professional player came to play roulette to make money :)

Poker, a game based largely on skill, has consistently generated enough interest for casinos to continue to offer it as an exclusive form of gambling. But casinos don't just rely on poker's immediate appeal and accessibility to make money. Casinos make money from poker through something called the rake.

Because online casinos and slot machines are programmed in such a way that, in the long run, they’ll take all your money — you can be sure of that. Poker, on the other hand, is a game where you’re directly involved — you decide whether to fold or keep playing the hand. Everything depends on your own skills.

Whichever ones said something like that must be really full of themselves, and/or worry way too much about what other people might think of them. In fact, if most of their competitors believed that, then it might be a good strategy to exploit that by playing some slots or roulette. ;)

I agree Tammy. Though there is one video game that would be classified as a game of skill, one that you can influence the outcome by the plays you choose, like Blackjack and Poker. That game is video poker.

Video poker is rigged. Sad stories of poor people changing their check at the bar for a « chance » to win.

The machines are usually set to spew back one third of what is ingested. I had a friend who worked for the lotto and had an nda about the topic. When asked about it, she just said: don’t play!

Oh sure, you could win. But chances are you will loose, especially long term.

This is true of any game of chance. There are those who should definitely just stay away, if they cannot set responsible boundaries for themselves. I look at it as an entertainment expense - if I even decide to go. Set limits, when that's done, you're done. If you happen to win a little, bonus! :)

I see nothing wrong that players in our Community share their successes and experiences playing slots, roulette, blackjack or any other game. Almost all poker rooms have a casino application, and there is nothing wrong with that. I like playing at casinos because I can relax there.

Why no casino on a poker forum? Poker players are gamblers and gamblers like to talk about other games too i guess. Hope that answered ur question.

Usually they are in the same building, so its good that poker players understand how casino games work and that the house has an edge in casino games.

I don't think I can agree on that. Many known good players do gamble. They bet on sports and horses etc..

Very well explained and right to the point. Of course, I would never claim to be a pro at Poker and therefore, chances are I will try my luck at Slots randomly
