Why settle for +/- 50% on roulette....?

Hi there,

I know when everything goes wrong, you might choose red or black to double up (or maybe odd/even), but I always wondered why people don't choose to go for about 66% on column instead?

Because we win less? I've always privileged that strategy myself and won confidently more than putting all my money on a +/- 50% odds.

Really? There is no difference

...I think people are trying to play it safe, but yes breaking even isn't really the goal 😎👍

I'll just do that , just my opinion, I'm a noob at most Casino games and in this case- at roulette, I pretty much only play red or black to double up(I use Martingale strategy... for example I see that it was a red number last 3 times and I start betting on black until it comes, or I run out of money lol), because it's a simple strategy that works pretty well, definetly better than no strategy at all... also, I usually play Roulette only online and it's because I receive some kind of bonus and it's usually easy to clear and pretty much all the time I made profit using this strategy, but yeah because it's 'safe' - small profit each time, no big session wins... my guess is that most people that play like this aren't regulars and are just having a bit of fun, advanced strategies are for people that are more serious about it, play often at Roulette and are willing to put the work to know all the rules and how to increase their chances to make money on both short and long term 💸💸💸

Roughly 2/3 instead of 1/2. Unless I don't understand what you meant...

The EV is the same.

To simplify the calculation - if we do not count 1/36 casino edge which sits as everyone knows in 0 (or even two 0s in French Roulette), the EV of any bet is the same = 0.

Lets say you bet $100
When you bet on red or black, you bet 100 and have 50% chance to win 100 vs loose 100.
The EV calculation: +$50-$50 = 0

When you bet on 2 columns you have 2/3 chance (66,6666... %) to win $50 and 1/3 chance (33,3333...%) to loose $100.
The EV Calculation: +2/3 * $50 - 1/3 *100 => +33,333... - 33,333... = 0
In Both cases EV = 0

It is exactly the same no metter what you bet - the number, 4 numbers, 6 numbers, columns, red/black, whatever.
It is 0 except the casino edge and this edge is the reason casino always wins.

Do you think roulette is a game that has brought you more income or expenses?
If you are one of those who know how to make money on roulette, then we definitely have something to talk about

They must enjoy the thrill and not be in it to make money over the long term.

There's no advantages in it in the end, you get screwed all the same.

Not pretending I'm crushing roulette... Just asking myself why everyone is so on a black or red instead of having better ONE shot odds on colums or 12 numbers.

I'll let you in on a secret. There are people who even bet on zero. Sometimes they win, but not as often as those who simply bet on black or red

Yeah looks like it does not matter in the end as there is no proven roulette strategy where you are not going to bleed your money to the casino in the long run.

In reality, it doesn't matter. No matter how you bet, fields, numbers, colours, the casino will have an advantage in any case. You wonder why people don't place more promising bets, but they are only more promising from your point of view, and this rather limits your view of the big picture
