Three years ago, I made the craziest decision of my life: quitting my job to go all-in on poker.

It wasn’t glamorous — no Lambos, no beach villas.
Just sleepless nights, tilt, leaks, and many losing sessions.

But it was also freedom, discipline, and massive personal growth.

Today, I’m not rich, but I make a living doing what I love.

If you’re thinking about making the leap, do it with a plan, not just a dream.

Wow! This is awesome! Many think about it but don't follow through with it.
I'm curious, what format do you prefer to play?

'massive personal growth'... care to explain? For me it feels like poker has the opposite effect on me but I'm interested in hearing about your experience and perhaps it can help me to look at mine differently ('mine' being... playing poker in general recreationally as I am far from playing 'for a living' unfortunately although I think I would like to be... soon (or it'll be never).

So you're still going at it? Any thoughts of quitting?

Nice story! I didn't quit my job and am also happy. I would suck as a professional poker player.

Quitting your job to play poker can be risky, so it's important to prepare thoroughly, have a reliable source of income, and start slowly to minimize losses.I have a good profit from two jobs, I am satisfied with everything.

His Profile shows Brazil. Seems to be a true poker paradise 💰 tons of people who quit their jobs to become pro. Just another success story from there! 😀🏆

Well done OP 💪😎👍

What a top, very interesting to see reality clearly like that

First of all congratulations and all the best with further games!
Can you tell us a bit more?
- Do you play life or online (or both)?
- Are you in Brasil or moved somewhere else to do it?
- Do you have any issues with people around you? Family, friends? Are you comfortable saying you make living from playing poker to people who do not know the game?
(as I see it, everyone admires professional poker players on the top, winning big tournaments etc, but accepting someone just earning average money as a job this way could be seen as problematic)

I might have to give it a go ... my work has slowed down dramatically thanks to Trump's tarrifs. Manufacturing in Canada is taking a death blow. I have seen 80% or so of all manufacturing dissappear to China and Mexico in my 30 yr career. We won't be able to make anything here soon.

I really like your advice, I hope many people take it and don't quit their jobs until they have the intellectual and financial capital to be successful.

If you’re doing fine then that’s really commendable! But I feel that the transition has to be gradual and subtle rather than resigning overnight and sitting at a poker table next morning!
