Sometimes during a hand I feel like my instinct tells me something is wrong.
Maybe the opponent suddenly bets big, or their line just doesn’t make sense.
The problem is that poker is also a mathematical game, so relying only on feelings can be dangerous.
Do you trust your instincts at the table, or do you always stick to logic and odds?

I trust my gut but it doesn't help me win at the table, mostly luck works or doesn't work 😁

Mathematics tells you what to do in general; reading your opponent tells you when to deviate.

When I'm in the flow, trusting my intuition is a very good decision for me.

Not by instinct, but by reading things, my mind understands when a bet isn't right and when I should withdraw. When the opponent makes strange moves, this can fail.

I appreciate psychology in poker more than mathematics, so yes, instincts are very important to me during the game. But usually, I listen to them in the later stages of tournaments, when I am 100% focused on the game. :ninja:

Yes, women have well-developed intuition, although it sometimes interferes with the game.

So far, but competition analysis is essential for a poker win. Overall, a skill and analysis

Poker intuition is dangerous, but useful if you understand how it works. In the professional community, it is not called the “sixth sense”, but subconscious recognition of patterns.

There are mathematical calculations that guarantee you won't go bankrupt in the long run (decisions with positive expected value), while instinct (or "readings") exploits the mistakes of opponents who deviate from General Optimization Theory (GTO). Relying solely on your instincts is a potential risk.

I always trust my instincts at poker . That's the only thing that might lead me finally to a good desicion . Or stop me from taking a very big risk or go on tilt .a lot of thinking , and trust my instincts . For sure

Yes, I do trust my instincts in poker, but I try to balance them with logic and strategy. Instincts usually come from experience—patterns you’ve seen, tendencies you’ve noticed, and situations you’ve played before.

That said, I’m careful not to rely on gut feeling alone, especially in spots where math or ranges are clear. I see instincts as a tool to guide decisions when there’s incomplete information, but I always check them against fundamentals and probability.

In the end, the best plays often come from a mix of instinct, knowledge, and emotional control. Trusting your gut is important, but knowing when to trust it is what separates good decisions from mistakes.

Sometimes, but I try not to rely on them too much.

Most of the time I prefer solid fundamentals and logic. Instincts can help in close spots, especially live, but they can also just be bias.

Sometimes you have to trust your inner feeling, sometimes you see that you are losing a hand, but an inner voice tells you to go to the end, and here it is a victory.

I think instinct can be helpful, especially when something about the line feels unusual. But I still try to rely mostly on logic and the situation of the hand. Usually the best decisions come from combining experience with solid reasoning.

I think poker is about combining instinct with optimal play. The key is knowing when to use one or the other. You have to watch how your opponents play and try to understand why they bet in certain spots that sometimes don’t make much sense.

Many players play in a very straightforward way, like betting every street with nothing. Those are the kinds of situations you have to take advantage of. In those moments, trusting your instincts can be important, even if it doesn’t look like the most optimal play.

I think you have too.. to a point. The situation at the tables change quick… you could be sitting there preflop with AA and thinking you’ve got the nuts and nothing can go wrong, you can toss out a bunch of chips for the flop to be J J K or something sketchy.. now your gut has told you multiple different things at this point I’m sure… so the flow can change,

You need to go with it in the moment you think you’ve can take down the hand if that’s your feeling, if not clean up them wounds and go back to battle haha

(Long story short, yes and no.. you can’t ever let that choice creep into your head)

No I don't, because it's ego trying to make me feel as "the chosen one". But there's no one. Poker is about focus, awareness and reading the table.
.

And if you think I'm wrong, well, your ego has just made a fool of you. AGAIN.
