Experience can make a big difference in poker. The more hands you play, the more situations you encounter and learn from.
Experienced players often recognize patterns in their opponents’ behavior and betting styles. This helps them make better decisions at the table.
However, experience alone is not enough. Studying strategy and learning from mistakes are also very important.
How many years have you been playing poker?

Poker is a game of incomplete information where experience teaches you to interpret the clues better. Talent gives you an advantage at the beginning, but experience makes you consistent. This is because, over time, you learn which spots are truly profitable, you detect repeated mistakes from opponents, and you develop intuition based on thousands of situations.

How many years of experience does not matter in online potker. Play onl with different play offs far away. Playing online it is important to know how to catch and hit. K needs good cards, no qualifications. I just need my degree to be the top 1.

I think bankroll management is just as important as experience. You cannot make money in poker if you do not have any money. Defining success also has a different meaning to different folks. For me, if I have time in my day for a game of poker, after meeting all my responsibilities, I consider that a big success.

I’ve been playing poker for a few years now. Over time I’ve noticed that experience really does help, especially when it comes to recognizing player tendencies and different betting patterns. The more hands you play, the more comfortable you become in different situations.

That said, I agree that experience alone isn’t enough. Studying strategy, reviewing hands, and learning from mistakes are just as important if you want to improve your results. Poker is definitely a game where both experience and continuous learning go hand in hand. ♠️

I've been playing for at least six years, I find poker incredibly brilliant, the mathematics and logic behind the sport, and I've learned to deal a lot with my "emotional temperament" and bankroll in daily poker games. It's a sport where you learn a lesson at every table you play at.

Experience is important, so as not to make the same mistakes, in poker you keep learning, so there's no end to it.

I’ve been playing poker for several years now. I actually started on the old and well-remembered Full Tilt Poker. Over time, experience has helped me understand different situations better, but I also believe studying the game and learning from mistakes is essential to keep improving.

I've been reading through everyone’s takes and honestly, I think the "experience" debate comes down to how you use that time. To me, poker is one long, continuous strategy game where the goal is to make the right moves over thousands of hands, not just a single night. Experience is great for getting comfortable, but it isn’t everything. You can play for 10+ years and still be a losing player if you aren't putting in the work away from the table. Studying stuff like ranges, pot sizes, and how much position actually matters is what really moves the needle. It’s the difference between guessing and actually knowing why you’re making a bet.

The other huge part is the mental side. If you don't have a bankroll set aside exclusively for the game, it’s almost impossible to stay cool when things go sour... and they will eventually, you should build immunity against defeats and sick coolers. Being able to stay calm during a bad beat/run is a skill in itself. It’s also what gives you the discipline to just fold when a nit or a really tight player starts playing back at you. Sometimes the best way to win a hand is to realize you’re beat and move on to the next one.

Strategy, tactics, working on mistakes, emotional attitude towards the game, patterns in the opponents' play - all this in general is a valuable experience that gives you confidence in making the right decision!

Having experience in poker is important for long-term success, as it allows the development of skills and game strategies that go beyond the basic rules of the game. It enables you to handle variance, not interpreting losses as injustices, but as a crucial part of the game.

I think every tournament you play is a new experience. Sometimes we lose badly, and other times we play very well and win our flips to go deep in the tournament. Every situation adds something and helps us become better players.

Whether it’s trying different styles or playing more GTO, everything we do becomes information we can use in the future. Poker has so many variables that situations are rarely exactly the same.

Just keep playing, and the learning will come naturally as long as you always have the desire to improve.
