Marijuana and poker?

Hey I am not sure if I am allowed to post this so admins/mods please correct me if I am wrong and I apologize for my mistake. My question to you guys is how many of you enjoy cannabis (medical of course) while you play poker? Do you think it affects your performance at all in Negative or Positive ways. Personally I am able to shrug off bad beats a lot better than when I am sober. Was just curious as to how other players react.

Why do you believe a person should not play poker under it's influence?

I mean who cares? Why would I be concerned with what someone else is doing? It's their choice... they can do as they please imo.

Personally I don't smoke marijuana but I'm definitely not opposed to it at all. On the contrary... I'm all for it! Freedom of choice!!

I do it keeps me calm while im playing. Sometimes after a tough beat i leave the table gather my thoughts with a little marijuana not to much though dont wanna be silly just calm the nerves ya know

OK, so I'm not a marijuana smoker/eater/juicer (or what have you) but I cannot conceive of how it could possibly help your game. However, I'd be quite happy to play stone cold sober against a table of high players any day. Let me know the time and place - I'll be there.

I don't take anything that alters my state of mind while playing poker. That includes cannabis, caffeine, nicotine, alcohol etc. Drugs and gambling just don't mix in my opinion. Especially with a game that's so revolved around decision making.

Well I guess I'm the only one who plays while smoking a joint. Matter a fact I'm high most of the time I play. Now I will let the players I play against answer this question does it effect my game? Because I'm pretty sure I'm on top of this quarters money list. I believe it helps slow my game so I don't rush a bad decision. I'm playing at the top of my game anyone disagree

just kidding.. but I used it a couple of times and my brain just got slower and I was a lot less capable of mantaining my concentration on the game

I really think it's not very good for your bankroll to use it and play under the influence, what makes more sense is to take something that activates your brain, raise the level of dopamine and keep you focused, like ritalin. Marijuana also raises the dopamine and endorphine levels (if I do remember correctly), but it also affects your short term memory, and just that side effect may hugely affect your performance.

I named on of my accounts like 420weedgod or something and I tell you people kept calling raises thinking I was some stupid pothead or something and I walked away with bank every single time. Sober people get really pissed knowing the fact they still can't outplay someone who is high as hell when it happens. Some people just can't handle their weed and act/play normal just like some people can't handle their alcohol. Everybody is different I suppose most just can't handle it mentally and still think clearly.

Smoking makes me feel calmer and more collected at the poker table. Like most said just dont smoke to much. Been there done that and you feel like everyone has the nuts... lol

Smoking can make you way more patient , that's a good thing . Drinking on the other hand , I can't play while drinking I get way too aggressive lol.
