What do experts say about how much luck and how much skill are involved in poker, and what percentages do they usually give to each when it comes to winning for both new and experienced players?

I used to think that skills were more important than luck. But with every year of playing, I am more and more convinced that both skills and luck are important. In my opinion, this ratio is roughly 50%/50%.

I suppose that question depends on how much time you're willing to invest. If we're talking about playing over 1,000 hours and more than a million hands, then your overall result will mostly depend on your skill—I'd say about 95% skill. However, if we're talking about how you'll perform in a specific tournament, luck is a fundamental factor because there's a lot of variance. In that case, I'd say it's 70% luck.

90% luck and 10% skill who says otherwise is probably a luckbox who doesn´t admit it

In general, if we talk about prospects, about long-term goals, of course, skills will be more important. But in the short term, luck will be more important. I think the ratio of skills to luck is 70/30.

Radically different views. It would be interesting to watch you play when you're at the same table :)

Few people seriously think about the sources of luck in poker, calling this area of knowledge closed to human understanding. It is believed that poker is a game where not everything is determined by the victory of skill.Luck is also pointed out by those who firmly believe that beginners are lucky in poker. In the absence of the necessary experience for victories, they surprise with unexpected results that do not fit into the soil of logical patterns. The more you play poker, the more you realize that real skill on the playing field prevails over illusory luck.

I think the ratio is somewhere around 70% skill and 30% luck. But a lot depends on the depth of the stack. The deeper the stack, the more opportunities to show your skills.

In my opinion, what counts most in poker is skill and experience. Luck is also always welcome, but in my experience, skill always comes before luck.

Experts generally agree that poker is primarily a skill-based game, but luck plays a big role, especially in the short term. While some experts maintain that poker is 100% dependent on long-term skill, others suggest that luck can influence between 5 and 10% of a skilled player's success.
For new players, luck plays a much bigger role as they are still learning the fundamentals of the game. However, as players gain experience and develop their skills, the influence of luck decreases.
The percentage of skill versus luck can vary depending on the specific game format, what is at stake, and the players involved. However, it is generally accepted that skill is the most important factor in determining long-term success in poker.

It is half and half; 50% skill, 50% kuck/variance. Outliers with more luck seem to be poker newbies. In luck-terms, I wish I was a lucky newbie than a veteran who has seen a lot of good and bad hands.

I think the ratio of skills to luck is about 75% to 25%. In general, it's difficult to talk about any exact numbers or ratios, because in different situations this ratio can be different.

If we talk about online gaming, I think the ratio is 50/50. If we are talking about a live game, I think the ratio of skills to luck is 80/20.

There are many percentages bandied about Luck v Skill, but my answer is "How long is a Piece of string?"
Firstly it is impossible to measure without a rule, and secondly how can you measure something that is only in your own mind? Luck is something you feel hence the phrase " I feel Lucky" or "I have a gut feeling"
Skill comes from years of practice! but you cannot see it, taste it, or smell it. So again it is unmeasurable! Some people ask who is the best Poker player in the World? My answer is the last person sat at the table. I admire lots of Professional Players for their game play and Skill, but to name one player that is better than all the rest is just an opinion, not a fact!
Likewise all players get lucky some times, Just not there when you need it most, I have come up against some players who believe they have been dealt their "Lucky Hand" at some point in a game. and go all-in with it, because they believe it to be lucky for them, They remember the number of times it hits the magic flop for them, but forget the number of times it misses completely.
Luck comes and goes as it want's to, It's something you should never count on, because it will abandon you when you need it most, Skill however is something you can carry with you from game to game, It is always with you and no one can take it away from you, I would much rather believe in my own Skill as a Poker player, than being a Lucky Player, otherwise I would give up on the Game.

90 percent luck v 10 percent skill. You basically cannot play without hitting the deck and getting suitable playing hole cards. In an MTT scenario if you are getting the run then the game breaks down to getting paid often and folding at the right times. Sounds simple but the run of the cars is parimount.

I'm not going to posit a ratio, but I believe that the more skill you have, the less luck plays a factor.

Craftsmanship is much more important; you also need to understand that quality, combined with quantity, gives results.

It depends on the sample size. The more hands that are played, the less luck plays a role.
