I recently asked a question about where some of the once-famous poker players disappeared to. Now I’m wondering who you consider the best professional poker player today.

Who is the best, what is their main game they play, and why do you think they are among the best players today?

If I would have to decide for one I would decide for LLinusLLove. The best online Cash Game Player at the moment. But there are many other good poker players who are on a similar skill level but not exactly as good as Linus 😃

Well, I don't know even half of the professionals out there so how would I know? The answer itself will always be very subjective for each of us.
So I can just as well give my answer closer to home and say Eelis Pärssinen.

I agree with others that it is very subjective. I think Erik Seidel is one of the best players around. He has longevity and is still playing with great results.

Very tough question actually. It's very easy to pick Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu or others, but since the question says "Today", the hesitation comes along.
Anyway, though I'm not 100% sure, I want to go with Nick Shulman. The guy cashes very often and not just in NLH. He plays in different events and gets results, not necessarily wins, but FTs for sure.

I really look up to Daniel Negreanu, when i started playing poker he was a big star!!! I guess he still is and he seems to still got the best game in him, many of the old pros didn't seem to adept to changes in poker. So they are geting crushed today if they aren't already brooke. But Daniel's smart enough to study game even if he could have the mentality to say "F THIS STUDY SHIIIET IM BEST IN WORLD" he didn't and THAT is why he still among the best players in the world!

I would love so much to play against him one day, he's a really funny guy at the tables to it seems so the time would probably fly by with so much laughter.. But i doubt that will ever happen. I wish him all the best from Sweden!

if we are talking tournaments, especially the higher end tournaments, for me its either adrian mateos or jason koon. their results in the big tournaments over the last few years plus speak for themselves

Well I don't know for sure who is the best pro poker player nowadays. I know the old players , not the new players , I don't follow them . So I don't know if all time money list has changed and how , or if the same guys hold the record . But I see that some of the old school poker players find it hard to keep on with the modern times and modern poker , not so successfull anymore . Also who is the best is not sth that interests me , especially if it is not one of the old school players .

Of the professional players I know, the one I like the most is Adrian Mateos. In the mind of a pro, you can see the deductive ability he has in poker, it's incredible.

So I only consider the best High Stakes LIVE Cash Game Players in NLH.

By being the best, I also consider reading tells, not giving away tells, and being invited to play very soft games with a lot of rich people.

According to CardPlayer magazine ,over the years the best player on the World PokerTour ( main tour circuit ) has been Darren Elias with a top total 4 wins , and also a record 13 final tables and 47 in the money finishes . Carlos Mortensen is #2 with 3 triumphs , 6 final tables and 21 cashes , He has won the most money though !
