Do you think a player accustomed to MTT, can be winner in cash game?

I have tried for several times to play cash game, and it seems that it was not made for me. Does the same happen to you, or do you manage to win both sides?

I started with cash games and then moved to tournaments, so kind of the other way around. Playing cash does require some adjustments for sure, and if tournaments suit you better, then just stick with those.

If you play cash games it's crucial to have a good BRM. I played cash for a while but I stick with tournaments for now since I'm too impulsive at the moment so it's hard for me to keep on a steady winning trajectory. I hope I will improve to be able to play cash in the future but for now I'm having too much fun in the tournaments. Good luck!

Cash game is not created for you only as long as you do not start reading books and training materials on it. I don't see any obstacles. For me, the cash game is much more convenient than tournament poker.

I do not really see much connection to the "reading books and training materials", as it is available to anyone, so that would mean, everybody is profitable....

CG is definitely not for me. In Holdem, I could make plenty small profit days, but the loser ones took 4-5 times more than a winning, maybe I was on 0 with all the rewards.... however it was really annoying, looked like total waste of time.
In PLO, what I would play only for rake, I also can't handle similar things, when the 'pre-flop alliners' sitting at the table, and basically no other option left, fold or allin preflop, and does not matter I raise or call with AAxx with 2 flush and straight draw or I call the 3 way allins with 6789 or 78910 both burns for days, meantime the same set up the winner for others.... do not mention the played hands till river, where they wait for the 1-3 outs, and it keeps falling for days.... (I saw some crazy runs in HL, but none of them was near to the craziest PLO river falls...only the 1-3 outs, nothing else) I can read and 'study' any materials for life, I can count variance, and probability, it should be a huge +, and it still creates the biggest loss... (these days should be the most profitable, meantime I lose the most. If someone can explain it for me, based on any 'material' or mathematical counts, then I congrat to him and quit playing poker forever.) and it is not about couple of days, it is about months... no trust at all in online CG, only tourneys, even there are plenty unbelievable things, too....

So I stuck in tourneys, at least, I can make some profit there on my level.... Generally, I think, obviously an MTT profitable player easily should be a winner in CG, too. I do not see big differences, you can find plenty players like that.

i also have a lot of difficulties in cash games, so i prefer tournaments where i have adapted better.

I was watching High Stakes Poker on TV a few nights ago. The commentator said the Phil Helmuth gives opponents problems when he plays a cash game because he plays with a cash with a tournament style. So it is possible to play both, but be aware so that your style is good whichever one you are playing.

I love Phil Hellmuth, but the times I saw him play cash game, it was kind of disastrous, because his style is completely different, I don't think he's a good cash player, but in MTT he is a legend.

Absolutely, you just have to focus on different aspects of the game.

Playing a cash game well is like playing early, deep-stacked MTT well. There's no ICM in the cash game and much less short-stacked play. The important skills are much more deep-stacked and post-flop play.

So if you're comfortable with those aspects of tourney play (or willing to work on getting better!), you can definitely transition well to cash games.

Since It's playing a tournament to become a master of a cash game.
It takes time 10 times more than a cash game.

My main issues with cash games online is that I seem to wager a higher percentage of my bankroll than tournaments and SNGs because there are larger payouts at the top of tournaments so it can be more of a grind to move up in cash games. As of now, I have decided to stick strictly to tournaments and SNGs.

With that being said, I could easily make the adjustment of lowering my cash game stakes and potentially end up a winning player. With live poker, I’ve likely even had more success playing cash games than tournaments.

So in response, I do believe it’s possible but it can take a lot of discipline, which is a popular word around here.

I would say that you need to find cash games that you can have a smaller bankroll for to start learning what is necessary for you to start changing how you play. There are too many changes that have to happen to believe that you can switch automatically. Now, it will take thousands of hands to get a full picture, but I would say after a few hours you should start understanding what you need to change.
