Many people say that poker is easy to learn but very difficult to master. The basic rules can be understood quickly, but becoming a strong player takes much more time.
Strategy, psychology, probability, and discipline all play important roles in the game. Even experienced players are always learning and improving.
That’s what makes poker so interesting. No matter how long you play, there is always something new to discover.Do you agree that poker is easy to learn but hard to master?

Of course. To give you an idea, I always like to compare it to chess. In that sense, both games are identical.

That’s a very interesting comparison. Like chess, poker also requires strategy, patience, and the ability to think several steps ahead. In both games, experience and decision-making are extremely important.
However, one big difference is that poker also includes an element of luck because of the cards. Even if you make the right move, the result can still depend on the next card. But in the long run, just like in chess, the more skilled player usually has the advantage.

The difference between chess and poker is chess you have complete information, you can see your opponent’s pieces. Poker is a game of incomplete information, we can’t see our opponent’s cards. And the element of luck in poker makes it completely different than chess.

That is the understatement of the century. It’s the ultimate "trap" game because the rules are so simple you can teach a ten-year-old to play in fifteen minutes, but you can spend thirty years playing every day and still be a student of the game.

I believe it is indeed easy to learn, but above all, it is addictive; dopamine is the primary factor that keeps you glued to a poker room—sitting at a table, playing on and on.

Then comes the internal challenge—a test of your ego and inner drive to prove yourself the best; after all, human beings are survivors by nature.

Now, regarding the mastery of poker—specifically in the variant I prefer, Texas Hold'em—it demands true mastery of every stage and key concept; simply learning the basics is not enough.

This entails both theory and practice, which I distill into two essential qualities one must possess: DISCIPLINE and PATIENCE.
