How to be disciplined for poker

Hello I would like to share my story here and hear some help or opinion, I have been playing poker intermittently in the last few years but it has always failed to finish on tilt and gamble in cash games at high stakes. 1 month ago I started in mtt because a friend recommended that it was easier and that he was going to help me deposit about 50 dollars and in 20 days I won 3 tournaments I made more than 10 final tables and raised the bankroll to 400. But yesterday I committed the serious mistake of going back to a cash table and I lost everything as always, I thought I had it solved but it was not like that. Now my friend tells me that I am degen and that I have no solution for that problem and that I should stay away from poker 100%. I would like to hear someone's opinion to better analyze my situation and make the right decision and in case I am degen if that has a solution. All the best

The fact is that playing at cash tables and playing at tournaments have different strategies. Your game strategy seems to be better suited to tournament play. So play tournaments.

Knowing how to play poker well and how to play well are two different things. The difference between the two is discipline. You have to be very disciplined in order to use your knowledge of poker properly. Even if you know a lot and are constantly learning something new, you can still play very poorly, because you simply will not have enough discipline.

But this have solution?

I read somewhere that the player can block certain types of the game. Block your cash games, play MTT.

Yeah but i talk about if this about discipor is mental and cant be solved?

Stick to these kind of games that suit you the most. If you do not want to play long MTTs then move over to the SNGs. But stay away from the cash games, when they are tilting you or you make minus with them.

Of course, we play poker also for the fun, but it is more fun, when we are profitble in this. And read about bankroll-management. It is so important. If you do not have proper bankroll-management you will always go broke and it will also
make you easier tilted. Avoid being tilted.

And if you build up your bankroll again and played enough and I mean really enough games and hands, then you could consider to go back to the cash games.
But then again, play them also only with proper bankroll-management.

Then you can get your feets wet again. But only with small stakes. And only if you beat them over a certain amount of time, then you should level up. Take it like a business. And believe me, it is a long-term business. It is not about becoming rich in one day.

If you can't do this, then really try to exclude yourself from the cash games like Iryna above suggested.

i agree with previous comment by Milka - identify your best game and set out a programme where you stick to that variant, record those results and then review after a set number of games - set a target for yourself and good luck!

Im not sure what was the cause for your loss but i think if you can have good results in MTT s you should nt be loosing that much in cash games. Possibly you have some skills and the problem more like playing on tilt/refilling your stack automatically/ not having daily limits or maybe you ve choosed higher limit than you should have these are more about bankroll management and possibly can be sorted.
I recommend to practise these on play money cash games. If you d like to improve.
Set a daily limit how much you can spend this is easy with tournaments because you just play for buy in or maybe some rebuy so definitely something new you need to think about.

Go back to the beginning again, be humble and try again, delete the bottlenecks that reduce your bankroll, you went back to playing cash and lost everything you had achieved playing mtt right, friend happens or has happened to all players, but apparently you are a more player Skilled in mtt, stop playing the cash not limit, but if by chance you feel great desire to play cash, choose to play a cash pot limit with buy in with low values

I think cash tables are so dangerous to eat our bankroll..[emoji848] generally isnt a good choice to me, but i donk make a good bankroll management to cash tables thats the true.. mtts have diferent fellings! but the solution is study so much cash table situations..![emoji378]🦾

Like whiskers77 is writing. Play only SNG and MTT. And look if it is possible to block you for cash games. And also block you for middle and high stakes for MTT and SNG. Discipline is very important and blocking can help you when it is not possible for you. And you have to be honest to your self. It makes no sense saying I can beat buyins and playing the without the bankroll. Even if I have a tracker I have a sheet writing dow for every session number of SNGs total buyin, winnig or loosing, ROI and my places. So I get an overiew how my games is developing. This month I got for streaming some tickets MTTs which I'normaly not playing, coming 3 times ITM one time final table. But I still stay on the same SNG games, because I did not beat them at the moment. It is a nice addon, thats all. So very import you have to be honest to your self and beat a level over a longer time. Than you can go to the next and can everytime go back with the knowledge to beat it and start again with puting money into the system. But thats only my opinion.

In cash games you can win fast. And that is the thought which is pushing you to play those games. But it is also true that you can also lose fast. And that happened with you.

How to be disciplined for poker? First, bankroll management, I do not know exactly how many BB in cash game.
The second thing is to stop playing after a certain loss! This is the hardest because you want to get your loss back right away.
I'm not an expert, but I'm not sure you need to stop playing poker.
I’m pretty sure I would never play a cash gamet again, but tournamnet poker went so well why should you stop?

This may help. poker online is not equivalent to real time. No where near. The best solution is to take your skills to a real table. You will be more happy with your results. Your skills will work there.

online poker software is your problem. Online poker software favors the big stacks. I call this algorithm "PSA", Player selective algorithm. You will experience losses such as AA to a larger stack holding Q7 offsuit. The Q7 player has a much larger bank. You have seen this happen how many times? Most times this becomes active right before and after breaks, bubble-time, and during MTT payoffs. It happens way too frequently. It's a setup.

I call the second software algorithm "PEA", player elimination algorithm. This occurs when the software recognizes that a small stack player goes all-in to a larger stack. The villains' hand can almost be anything. The small stack player has no chance. Usually it will appear to the small stack player that they will win once seeing the flop, but the Turn and River yield results favoring the large stack. Happens way too many times. It's a setup.

You see, the software and the other players are what you are up against, both. You have to learn to recognize when the software is setting you up. That can be difficult. One thing you should watch for is when two or more players raise before you or one player raises and the next reraises and it's your turn and you have KK and the smaller bank.

If one can win consistently playing against the software and many skilled players on CardsChat, then it's time to make it real.

Bottom line, online software becomes ying and yang with a little more yang than ying. You be busted continuously, man. Take that money to the real tables and find out your true skills.
