Bad beats are part of poker, but sometimes it’s still hard not to feel tilted after a big pot.

What do you usually do when you feel tilt coming? Do you stop playing immediately or try to keep grinding?

Well trying to not focus on it. Sometimes if it feels badly i just unregister all tourneys that upcoming, playing out what’s left. That's it. if you not controll tilt - then will be bad thing like losing bankroll.

Tilt can ruin your entire day's grind, always try to stay calm and play as you normally do, avoiding absurd plays with bad hands.

Controlling tilt isn’t about not feeling emotions, but about having systems and habits that prevent those emotions from affecting your decisions.

StrategyMeaningSigns or ExamplesMain Benefit
Recognize tilt earlyDetect the first emotional signals before they affect your play.Wanting to quickly recover losses, playing too many hands, getting angry at opponents, feeling you deserved to win. Allows you to stop the session before making poor decisions.
Take mandatory breaksSet automatic pauses regardless of emotional state.Stop after X bad beats or X buy-ins lost; get up for 5–15 minutes, walk, or close online tables.Reduces impulsive decisions and cools emotions.
Separate results from decisionsEvaluate whether the decision was correct, not whether you won the hand.Example: all-in with AA vs 72 and lose → correct decision even though the result is bad.Maintains rational thinking and avoids frustration from variance.
Have a mental routineTrain your mind just like you train strategy.Identify situations that trigger tilt, review sessions, prepare mental responses.Improves long-term emotional control.
Reduce session sizeLimit play duration and volume to avoid mental fatigue.Sessions of 60–90 min, regular breaks, fewer simultaneous tables.Less fatigue → lower likelihood of going on tilt.
Bankroll managementPlay with enough capital to withstand losses.Cash games: 30–100 buy-ins; tournaments: 100–300 buy-ins.Reduces fear of losing money and emotional pressure.
Accept varianceUnderstand that even perfect play can result in many losses.Long downswingsLowers frustration and unrealistic expectations.

It's part of the game - on both sides. Accept the consequences. Sometimes a little aggression is good to shake the mood and change it up. Sometimes you have to laugh it off.

Sometimes I just stop adding tournaments when I'm in a bad mood and end the game
