Sometimes it seems that the opponent is weak and there is a temptation to try. How do you know when to pull the trigger?

It depends on the quality of the players, the board and the actions preflop, flop and turn. But you have to be able to read it well, and it is always possible that the river card will help your opponent somewhat.

I bluff on the river, when I have no showdown value, when my opponent has not shown to much strength, and when I can tell a credible story.

Just make sure we don’t bluff into a calling station. We need to make sure this opponent can fold to a river bet. So pay attention to how they play, if they can’t fold, don’t bluff.
