How would you play pocket AAs in holdem. When ever I get these two cards in the hole; the first thing comes to my mind is: how much am I going to lose on this hand.
Go figure.

Well pocket AA is the best hand you can get. But still those do not guarantee for a win.

What I would suggest for preflop is:
- if you're the first person to bet, bet about 3bb.
- if some people limped before you, bet about 4bb+1bb per limper
-if people raised before you, reraise about double the amount.

This should erase people to join you postflop with junk hands.

If the flop comes and is very wet (meaning the possibility for a straight or flush), you have to see how people bet/raise and if necessary, also an AA has to be folded.

Those are my five cents :)

My problem is rather to raise to high in the beginning and scare other players away. I would want to play against one or two. Flushes are scary for this hand, lower triples as well.

open it as you would open other strong hands don't get overboard with it or people will notice and run far away ^^ always try to do your best to disguise your hands and adjust to your opponents so there is no one formula your supposed to follow when you got aces , there are different options and all of them could be right depending on the settings, and more importantly learn to throw them when the board is against you ^^ I used to whine about it and call to see that of course i was beat but now i am starting to throw them and save me the trouble and few chips :p

Pre-flop AA should be played relatively aggressively. And then it depends on what cards will come up on the flop.

Much depends on the players at your table. But in any case, these cards should be played more aggressively. Andreas correctly wrote (second comment)

I think the key here is not to limp, open raise 4BB at the very least, reraise pot with one raise before you and all in with raise and reraise before you. Eliminate those only hoping to see the flop cheap. My experience they get the nuts on the flop every time. It is like having KK, you know an A will come on the flop.

Hi,

First I want to touch the 'how much am I going to lose on this hand', which IMO isn't the right mindset if you take this game seriously as you should try to play each hand to the best of your ability on each street and hope for good results(short and especially long term); also I understand we all have some hands we 'hate' because we seem to lose more often than win with it but as a default I would still try to avoid changing my strategy base on superstition...

Back on topic, preflop- I don't like slowplaying Aces(especially online) and I usually open 3x or if there's already an open I 3-bet between 3x-4x depending on the stack sizes... Postflop- it depends on the number of opponents still in the hand and/ or the texture of the board but it's pretty rare when I don't Cbet this hand but on bad boards I don't mind letting the hand go too as in the end having the best hand preflop doesn't guarantee winning the hand and being stubborn might just cost you your stack...

I was playing the Cardschat $100 tournament today on pokerstars, and I got a pair of AA in the SB, and villain opened 2bb in MP, Mp2 called, button called, when it came to me I raised to 11.9bb, villain in MP called, MP2 and button folded, flop came 8, A and 5, I made a low raise of 4bb, because I knew that villain was very aggressive, and he called, on tuner 2, so I made a heavier raise of 13.95 , almost half a pot, and villain moved all-in and of course I called, on the river J, and to my surprise villain showed a 4 and 3 of clubs and I lost the hand with a set of A. Unfortunately that's what we find playing at the tables, but let's move on to the next one.
Good luck at the tables, everyone, especially me.(y)

Damn, that's unfortunate. But who'd have expected him to call 10bb with 43.
Would have been nice if the river came as 5 or 8 which would have saved you and showed him.😜

Agreed! How often does the AA's lose??? For me more times then often.
