Low pocket pairs in early position

What do you do with low pocket pairs, say 22 to 66, in early position? They seem tempting as you've already got a made hand, but I feel like in the long run it may be quite unprofitable playing them.

Early position, depending on the blinds and the type of game, low pairs can still be profitable, I usually call if I can do so without compromise, but unless I catch a set on a dry flop, I will play them very cautiously.

Most of the decisions involving low pairs will depend on the circumstances, there really is no set way on how to approach them, it all depends.

Most of the times fold, but sometimes that the feelong is ok, I might try them!

cash game i would not play them that often but in tournaments i do min raise them a lot and hope to make a set

but u know it depends on stacksize blinds how deep or small are ur opponents stacks
for me it makes no sense if i am deepstacked to play in early pos becouse if somebody move all in i usually have at the best a coinflip

would never limp than its better minraise

what if u limp and get raised to 5bb what do u doo

I always use in the early stages of small pocket pairs. In the future, they give a good profit. But they need to be used depending on the situation. It plays a role and value of the stack at the table, there was a raise in front of you and what. If I have a small stack, I throw them in allin.

Limp, call even a 3bet if its not most of my stack, and play to hit on the flop

they are quite hard to lay from early position, but if u flop well, u can for sure almost most of the times double up, so like i said, limp even call a raise, again if its not more then half of your stack, lets say i would risk 30% of my stack to try to hit that set on the flop, more then 30% i would just fold

I like to open raise just like I would my premium hands which disguises both groups. If the game is super passive limping may work.

utg an utg +1 or first to pot I am raising them just like any other hand 2.2 bb ish. Won't call 3 bets unless I have a read on the raiser and sit back and set mine. People get to hooked on TPTK the never expect to be slapped with a set of 22 from an early spot

if you dont have any raise it will be good to limp and see flop.

raise if you have enough chips to call a 3-bet but i would most of the time never do anything if i don't hit a set on the flop. limping might also be an option but i generally don't prefer. raising also allows you to continue to bet on the flop if you're heads up and if you're lucky enough to have an opponent who didn't hit anything!

well ninoverm i find it is always worth seeing the flop if the bet it big blind,
there is a fair chance a three of a kind could come about, although it is a risk, if raised in first cycle of hand i usually evaluate my current chips and evaluate the value of the risk, usually the lower the number of pair the more risk in my eyes, but with poker YOU NEVER KNOW aha, i hope this helped ninoverm!

They can still be profitable to limp in depending on your opponents I guess, as long as you don't stick on to set-mine. Cause then over time they're going to become unprofitable.

Depends on how many BB's you have left, but in general your going to want to try to see a flop as cheap as possible. There is a 1 in 7 chance or 13% odds of hitting a set on the flop with pocket pairs.

If there is a big raise before your turn to act into the muck they go.

It deppends of your position,what level blinds are,and how big is your stack. If there is no raise i would just limp with them to see flop, if there isnt nothing good on flop just check or fold.Cheers!

Check if possible to see flop. I wouldn raise with small pair much... specially in freeroll tournament.

In full ring these are generally not profitable from EP, but in 6max they are.

Depends on who is at the table. If you can min-raise and likely see a flop (you don't have a crazy aggro player that reraises every hand preflop) then I would do that. If you are at a table where you are going to get reraised most of the time, I would just fold. Set-mining is only worth it if you can get in cheap because you only going to hit about 1 of 8 times.
