Is poker more mentally exhausting than it looks?
And also what helps you stay disciplined during long sessions?

During breaks between sessions, I like to relax, drink water, and check social media to clear my mind for a while.

Poker has helped me become more disciplined and focused. Thanks to poker, I have improved these characteristics, which has had a positive impact on my personal life.

In fact, if you play poker frequently for extended periods, mental fatigue is inevitable. This is even more true if the competitive game involves a high level of cognitive intensity, which can lead to mental exhaustion. Constant decision-making and emotional control contribute to stress and mental strain during tournaments.

i dont find poker exhausting at all. I find it relaxes me from the goings on of real life.

You do have to prepare to stay focus for long periods....a little known or appreciated factor in tournament poker...

I cannot concentrate in comparison to my younger days. The joy of poker seems so far in my past.

If you feel exhausted just make a break. It's also helpfull to make a day or two without playing.

If you only focus on playing, it's very difficult to do it alone; find a way to feel good but also to stay focused.

Poker is a complex mental game that requires constant concentration, decision-making and emotional control. Because of these characteristics, poker probably can be considered significantly mentally taxing, especially during longer playing sessions.

But I tend to get to some sort of autopilot mode while playing long sessions, so it does not feel like that in my opinion. Just getting in to the flow mode helps a lot I guess. I don't take breaks. :unsure:
