Topic for discussion:

Poker has changed a lot in recent years. Before, many players learned primarily by playing and watching their opponents, developing their own style over time.

Nowadays, the game is increasingly influenced by tools such as solvers, advanced mathematical analysis and software training. This has led many players to study highly optimized strategies based on game theory (GTO).
Some believe that this has raised the overall level of poker and has made it deeper and more strategic.
But others think that poker has become too “robotic”, with many players simply trying to follow theoretical solutions instead of adapting or being creative at the table.

This is also said to have changed the style of play:
Fewer intuitive decisions
Game more range-based and guided by mathematics.
Strategies that are increasingly similar between players

This raises an interesting question for the community.
Questions for the debate:
Do you think solvers are making poker less creative?
Does modern poker reward study more than natural talent? ?
Can a player who doesn't study advanced theory continue to compete today? ?
Was poker more fun before, or is it more strategically interesting now?
I'm interested to know what the community thinks: Is modern poker evolving or is it losing part of its essence? ♠️

Nowadays poker has become very hard , difficult . Players , most of them use many tools , some legar and permitted , some tools not approved by poker rooms . These tools give them a huge advantage against novice players , who play by instinct or who know only the basics . These solvers , the bots , the HUDs' , the tools , so hard to beat them . Recreational players just lose money and time .

I don’t think modern poker has lost creativity, it’s just that the baseline has become more theoretical.

Yes, absolutely, it’s become theorical and that’s it, but much more difficult.

I think modern poker has definitely become more theoretical because of solvers and advanced study tools. But creativity is still important, especially when adjusting to different opponents and situations. The best players probably combine solid theory with creative decision-making.

Modern poker has definitely become more theoretical with solvers and training tools.

Players now study optimal strategies, ranges, and balanced play much more than before.
But creativity hasn’t disappeared — it just shows up in how players adapt and exploit opponents.

Theory provides a strong foundation, but real games still require adjustments and reads.
So it’s more structured now, but there’s still plenty of room for creative play.

Creativity hasn't disappeared; it just evolved. Using a solver doesn't mean you're a robot; it just means you understand the 'perfect' baseline. The real 'art' today is knowing exactly how to deviate from that baseline to exploit someone who is playing too tight or too loose.

Creativity hasn't left the game; it’s just evolved. You can't be 'creative' if you don't understand the baseline. Once you know what the 'perfect' play is, you can find brilliant ways to deviate and exploit people who are trying (and failing) to play like robots.
