50 VPIP is actually a little bit too high in my opinion. How many hands do you want to play? 80/100? Of course, if the people at your table let you, I would do it everytime, too, but they won't. If the see you calling too much, they'll just start re-raising you at some point.
You don't need to play only hight cards, if you have connected mid-cards, you can play them sometimes. You can also play low suited connectors sometimes. But if your VPIP value is too high, and the others can see your value across tables, you won't be able to be successful in the long run. It's not even possible to get to a final table with such a paly style. That's actually a big part of the game itsself. Start calling eight out of 10 hands and after 30 minutes you will be either out, or left with 5 BB or in the top 10, but then if you continue that palystyle, you'll lose everything again. Hand by hand. Talking from my own experince here. I have tried that out myself. It's a phase of my game I'm not fully done with yet and trying to get it into control.
