Slowplaying AA: Smart Trap or Big Mistake?

I had AA and just called preflop instead of raising.
Flop came dangerous and I lost.
Do you usually slowplay strong hands?😊

I think that you can use slowplay only when you have the first nuts and no hand can be better than yours.

Preflop with anyone left behind me I almost NEVER slow play and just call. The only exception is when I know for a fact 100% the guy behind in a manic who will re-raise if I just call.

Now if I'm the last to act and in position after the flop it kinda depends. Depends on what I think villain will do if I re-raise. I tend to like to mix it when in this position that way I'm not too predictable and easily readable.

If I'm gonna be out of position post-flop I NEVER just call. I'm always re-raise and NEVER just min raise.

It depends on the situation and the villan, but you really want to try to maximize your value.

It all depends on the stack depth, if 20bb you can slowplay, thereby provoking the opponent to push. When the depth is 50bb+ it is worth playing 3bet, knocking out hands that rarely pay us on the postflop

Yes, of course, if the whole table is jumping into the hand, but we need to try to reduce the number of players, because our chances of winning are noticeably reduced.

Personally, I go all-in with AA about 95% of the time.
If I try to play it slow, I feel like there’s a much higher chance of getting cracked — especially if someone hits a straight draw or flush draw on the flop.

Both... depends what comes... can be a thing of beauty or a complete disaster.. double edge sword playing limpy limps. Seems very common now though, so called sharks who have the shark pic on do it all the time. If someone limps from early I'm very warey of their holdings. The idea of raising AA is to narrow the field down so junky limpers don't come in with drawing suited connectors....although having said that they still do lol

Come to think of it, you should play AA any way you like because on any day your running well you'll win and any day you're running crep any way you play them you'll lose... its all luck.

Lately I prefer to play pair of aces with slowroll because if I go all in and it's a winning hand, they generally fold, when I enter they hit me with two pair, a straight or a flush (this is what mostly happens to me in online poker not with people), so with the slowroll at least you avoid that, I mean you might end up paying and losing but at least not all the chips.

Unfortunately I experienced Brunsons quote often. Now I don't play AA slow anymore except when I get another A on the flop

In my opinion, slowplaying AA is usually a big mistake, especially in low-stakes or online games where you’re more likely to get action by playing them fast. I’ve learned that it’s better to build the pot early and protect your hand, rather than trying to trap and letting opponents catch up for free.

There are rare situations where slowplaying can work — like against super aggressive players or in very dry boards — but most of the time, I prefer to just raise and keep the pressure on. AA is strong, but it’s not invincible, so I try not to get fancy and just play it straight

This is generally a horrible idea. Limping AA invites more players in the hand, doesn’t give us the lead in the hand and we can’t improve our position in the hand. For every player in the hand when we are not heads up we loose 10% equity. So we go from approximately 80% equity heads up to 70% with two players, 60% with 3 players 50% with 4 players etc etc etc. I don’t like giving up equity, I would rather raise to narrow the field, raise to be able to take control of the hand on the flop, raise if I am in earlier position than the button to try and fold out those players so I can act last and have position on players.

I would try to just call whatever raise and see whos willing to bet or just minimal raise to induce. However it's unclear, unless you feel someone is entering wigh medium type of hands.

This is a tricky one... my 'default' is to pretty much always be aggressive both preflop and postflop as this make the decisions much easier, but it depends on the table and/or number of opponents too and I don't mind some slow plays- especially with Aces... if you lose, that's just poker- no hand is unbeatable- it is what it is and you just move to the next hand/ game...

I saw a winning hand: AhA vs. AA – there were four hearts on the board – so the ace of hearts won. Besides, I've lost too many times (slow play and all-in pre-flop) with two aces in my hand. I prefere playing AA hand like other "high pair hands" and alwayse agressive
