I smashed my phone because of a bad session; everything went wrong. I got so frustrated with the river in the last hand that I ended up throwing it against the wall, and I don't even know why. What do you recommend to control my anger? Now I'm even worse because I won't be able to play at all 😭😭

Sorry to read that. I don't know what to say to control anger. Because it's something that comes up in an instant when it comes to poker. But take 5 minutes to breathe and think about what you did with your phone and the consequences that will bring you. Beyond not being able to play poker anymore. You'll also be incommunicado, and you'll spend money and time to repair the phone or buy a new one. I think a good tip would be to have something nearby that you don't mind breaking or throwing away when you're playing poker in case those fits of anger appear.

Dude, poker is all about that. Even if you're playing well, if your cards don't turn around and your opponent's cards don't turn around, it's over. If you want to avoid getting angry, I suggest finding another sport or hobby.

I'm a very chill guy, but I don't think I would be able to teach you how to be like me (because I'm like this since my early childhood).

Anyway, I think you can just stop whenever you feel you're starting to get mad with the game and just turn back a few days after it, when your stress has passed.

And, maybe, you could research more about Stoicism: it's basically a philosophical idea that talks about staying calm and understanding that our problems will come and that there's nothing we can do about it, other than being prepared to face them.

Probably the advice of other people won't help much, each person is different, you need to work on yourself, over time you treat everything more calmly, but a breakdown can happen to anyone.

One of the main virtues in poker is knowing how to deal with tilt and understanding that going through bad times in poker is normal.

Do you do similar things in your day to day life, or are these outbursts limited to when you play poker? If it is only at the poker table, why does that bother you so much?

I know it's hard to hear this, but it's going to happen again (the bad ones, not you breaking your phone), the sooner you understand that, the better.

It’s a shame what happened to you, but maybe it’s even good that it happened sooner rather than later so you can learn from it and from everything that comes with poker, like tilt.

Think about all the times you get bad beat on the river, but also how many times you do the same thing to your opponents. We have to be objective and accept that we don’t play perfect poker, just like our opponents don’t.

The best thing you can do is move forward and keep your head up. Try to continue the grind when you can. Maybe not immediately because of the phone situation, but you can still study the game or learn other things in the meantime. Poker is important, but it’s not everything in life.

The easiest and fastest way to calm down. The brain doesn't immediately switch off from strong emotions. Help it take a break with breathing exercises. Take a few deep breaths. Breathe into your belly. Regular breathing allows you to release unpleasant emotions and tune into a calm, relaxed state.

Tell yourself:
This is variance.
Bad luck ≠ bad decision.
Chasing losses quickly = the worst possible decision.
Quitting on time = making money in the long run.
The best play is often not to play.
Emotional discipline is worth more than technical skill.

Hello everyone, the truth is it's not easy to sit down or accept the decisions you make on each street, I feel like it helps a lot and it helps me a lot, it's accepting the decision I make and accepting if it's going to work out for me or it's going to go wrong, okay. Because nothing is said, every street totally changes a table.

Amigo, el póker se trata de eso. Incluso si juegas bien, si tus cartas no cambian y las de tu oponente tampoco, se acabó. Si quieres evitar enojarte, te sugiero que busques otro deporte o pasatiempo.
That's exactly what I was thinking; I was going to forget about playing anymore. The time I'm investing in it feels like I'm worse off than when I started. Before, I took it lightly; it was just luck. But now that I've studied a bit and have more knowledge in various aspects, I feel like it's affecting me more

Well, actually, today I said I'd play the last tournament; if I lost, I'd forget about poker. It turns out I came in third, and against the last two players, my signal dropped. When I logged back in, I'd already been eliminated. I don't even know what to do, whether to keep trying or forget about it all. At least I won a full amount, and I'm sending my phone in for repairs, but I don't know what the signal will be like

No, I feel it's more of a personal problem. It's happened to me even outside of the dining room, but I think it's more due to things I've experienced. I was incarcerated for a long time, and in prison, only the strong survived. I think it's more a character trait I developed in that environment, and sometimes it makes me let anger take over, but I know it's a problem.

I've heard about it, but I haven't paid much attention to it. I've seen many phrases and videos that have caught my attention, but I've never really delved into the subject.

Now I am on the tilt lost 3-4 times in a row with best hand preflop, and the river killed me for sure.
Don't know how to avoid tilt trying to don't play anymore today, and practice with chips to avoid tilt.
Tilt it's a part of the game just try to control your emotions, and everything, this is happen to everyone.
If was something like a tabblet for tilt was better :)

Enjoy Poker fellas :) Its our game what made us to be here.
