How does it differ from what Full Tilt and PokerStars do?

It's a cash game term for how rake is attributed for bonues/points/rakeback.

If a site uses dealt everyone dealt into the hand gets a share of the rake collected credited to their MGR (monthly gross rake). So if 9 players are dealt into a hand where $3 is collected, each players MGR goes up by 33.3 cents or $3/9.

The other major way of determining MGR is contributed where only the people putting money in the pot get a share of the rake credited to their MGR. So if a $3 rake is collected on a hand where UTG raised and got called by the button, that rake is divided 4 ways (UTG, BTN, SB, BB) or 75 cents each to their MGR. All the others at the table get no MGR credits for that hand.

There is another format for rake calculations called weighted or average contributed but I'm not sure any sites currently use it. Using that method your MGR is calculated by the % of the pot you contributed to. Using this method the BB and SB in the example above would get much less of an MGR credit than they received using the straight contributed method.

I don't know what Stars uses (Dealt I think) but FTP uses Contributed. Also note that dealt favors tight players more than other methods because they get credit for a lot hands where they are not contributing anything toward the amount raked.

Thank you :)

It doesn't really seem fair to me for players to be credited for hands that they didn't actively participate in, but I'm new to poker so I might be talking a load of rubbish
