What to do with weak ace

I have a lot of problems playing weak aces. especially when i am in a good position (especially pre-flop). What is your opinion guys?

I used to play them more but get outkicked a lot. So if i get to the flop cheap with them (big blind or small raise, or ill raise in bb with them) and hit an ace i might put a 2./3 pot bet in. If someone raises and there's no clear draw there im folding. But getting in cheap i want to see if there's a 2 pair hit for me. I read that people miss the flop a lot more than we expect so if your Ax hits an Ace on the flop, I've found for me it's helpful to put out a bet and see where I'm at. Chances are I win the pot right there and if not I know I'm probably outkicked.

Suited Ax is a bit better for me.

But I definitely wouldn't call a reraise preflop or all in shoves unless they're some baby stack.

Someone else here with more experience might have a different view as well.

I try not to play weak aces in early position.

Just stick to late position and only if suited. Remember if theres lots of people in the hand chances are one of them has your Ace either outkicked or your hand crushed.

Exactly. Just fold them, it is very hard to play these profitably OOP. IP it is better but still it is dangerous to overplay TPWK so it is also hard to maximize value.

only push or steal these hands very profitable from late position and sometimes middle position

if you are on the button and everyone folds, make a raise, post flop connect bet 1/2 pot to get back fold up call, check turn and river

Muck it in early and mid positions. Raise if pot is unopened from late position.

Personally I fold them... Over time you'll probably lose far more than you win... Today I smiled as an A7 bust out of a tourney along with an AJ to an AK...

Late position would be the only place to bet them. Any other place will kick you out.

unsuited weak aces I'll usually play in late position from the cutoff onwards if I'm first to open but I'll be very cautious as I move forward with the hand and try to keep the pot as small as possible. As for calling raises, I'd usually stick with suited aces but I might even not call depending on the raise size, stack size and player type.

If I do get in a hand with a weak ace, I might even fold TP to a double barrel depending on history I have on the player.

oop i would dump them, can say that i did multiple times today. IP keep it cheap and try to hit a big hand..straights, two pair, sets. If suited course add in trying to hit the flush. If the board looks good for your draw or you hit big put some money in, but don't go crazy...you want the fold or to knock a couple players out of the hand, after the flop you'll pretty much know where you stand as far as betting size and whether to bet or not.

Do not risk long before the flop and hope to hit the second pair as likely to be lost with your weak kicker.

I only play them if they are suited. They generally put you in a tough decision if you do hit. I have a table full of people trying to make problems for me, I don't like to make my own.

Late position raise if no others have acted before me. I will fold if the button or blinds re-raise my bet. No need to get too antsy with A9-A2 but I do try to take down the pot before the flop.

SOmetimes,, its so hard to JSUT SAY NO LOLOL.... more and more,, i have learned to jsut fold weak ace,,,,,,,, unless i,m really shortstacked,,, but once in a a w hile in a cheap tourney,, i will take a stab at cheap flop with ace 4.. jsut for fun tho,,!!!.....I O nce won 2 tourneys with an A4, so on rare occasion i will play it ... GL IN ur games./....

Fold to avoid trouble can be an option.
Still I can limp from late position and c bet when there is significant piece of the flop. But never get too involved with weak Ace

Play with a weak ace - to look for problems. Basically, I try not to play with aces, with a small kicker. But it still depends on the size of my stack., the BB magnitude and position at a table. In 8 cases out of 10, I throw them away.

Sometimes I play weak aces when blinds are low and I can see the flop cheaply. But in most cases it sucks and must be fold, yes. It's hard to do ("oh, it's Ace, I must win!"), but it's nothing but trouble if you play such hands.

An Ace with a weak kicker is like a sword with a dull blade and by weak kicker I mean any non broadway card. At a full table just fold them in EP. They're still likely to be the best starting hand in LP so go ahead and open raise on the button or in the blinds. Assuming no action CB 50%, delay CB 25%, Check it down 25%.

Forget the ace. If you see good fold equity => try to steal (like with any other card).

If not, fold. Its weak hand. You will win quite little money if you hit the ace (ace on board will make your value bets too obvious). You can loose a lot to some better kickers.

In general, if you get to the flop, you will be dominated too often and in bad situation to get any value.

Its of course for deep play and cash game.
At short stack at tournament in push/fold phase (like less then 8BB on late position, especially with antes) => shove any ace.

I fold so many A rag's. I don't like getting caught out there with a low kicker. But I do play them suited sometimes. Some of those folds I see that I would have won, but 80% I would have lost. And I have beat many players who play them with better kickers. Yep, then there are the times when I got beat by A rags. So it's really up to the player.

I really don't want to shove with A-x even if I'm short stacked. Any one who calls will likely have you dominated. I would much rather shove with two middle connectors. At least you will probably have two live cards if you get called.

A-x is just an awful hand in all circumstances. Your chances don't really improve that much even if it's suited.

If you're up against A-J:

A-4 suited wins 29.16%

7-2 offsuit wins 30.96%

Think about that when you're considering calling with A-x.
