AK I fold that a lot, except if I'm short stack.. I shove..

AA, never preflop, often post turn when the bord is paired with high cards, ex : 2KK because I fold AK, but my opponent maybe not.

remember... AA is the best STARTING hand... once the flop is on the table, it's a flip!

On the same line of thought...

You have AA and you raised 10BB preflop.

I am your opponent and i make the call (both have similiar stack size).

Flop is 5C 8C 2C I go all in.

You have AA with A C
What will you do????????
Thanks

I think it depends on stack sizes here, as well as tournament vs cash game.

If in a 100-200BB cash game, you’re likely up against a set or a made flush, in which case you have a significant amount of equity. The problem is the shove. If it’s 200BB then it is likely a negative EV decision to make the call, although you’ve 9 clubs to hit against a set. If you’re up against that made flush, you’ve got 7 outs, and have bent less equity.

In a tournament, decisions are even more situational, so it’s hard to stay. If you’ve got somewhere around 40BB behind and you’re far from the bubble, you might wanna fold and look for a better spot. If you’ve made the money, made you’ll wanna gamble?

Best practice would be to pull out a silver and figure out how much equity you need to make a positive EV decision on the regular.

Only time I fold AA is postflop and that heavily depends on the board textures, as well how many people are still in the hand or raising/going all-in. AK and even AQ always seem to be my "neverlucky" hands, always running into pairs and not hitting lol.

Rarely do, however, a chance after bet half of my chips and have a loving villain went 3 Q. He was allin and I retire because he was a player who bet on sure I show AA and tells me which in effect I had the Q ...;)

AK is easy to fold when you 2 or 3 players before you going all-in. Also postflop, when you don't hit anything and the board also doesn't develop for you.
AA only in satellites or also when the board doesn't develop for you postflop and it is likely that someone completed his straight or flush.

AA and AK

I think the emotions can get in the way when around the bubble. There's a good reason for this, but at the same time, if you do not play well, in the long run that will hurt you. I can definitely see plenty of situation where it would be good to fold AK, but AA has such a huge advantage preflop that you could also be missing out on collecting chips that could get you higher finishes.

At the end of the day, poker is a gambling game. Even though my knowledge of the game is limited, if I have pocket aces, that means I have the nuts preflop. I am never folding unless it's a satellite situation and I have nothing to gain from winning more chips!

AK on the other hand, I've folded in middle position, I've also watched pros do it as well in some situations.:cool::cool:

If you get 4 or 5 bet for a substantial reraise and this action from that player seems to reveal one of their better starting hands laydown the AK. Especially do this with more than one player.

That is assuming you are talking about preflop action. If someone gets two pair on the board and you have AK w an A you've got to learn to lay it down.

You would fold AA when all the cards have been dealt, there are 4 suited cards on the board and several players are in the hand at the table and you don't have the suit to make the flush and you can't beat the flush.

AA is always going to be difficult to fold. I could see folding AK in many situations. On the bubble, wet board etc LOL at the same time I was writing this I jammed with AK in a tourney and lost to Q9 suited preflop. :bike:

For AA or AK and going all-in preflop, the one thing you have to do is weigh the value of the potential pot. Yeah, you've got AA, but if it's only a double-up from 10 to 20BBs you can get is it really worth risking the entire tourney life? Look at it from the perspective of, # of chips you COULD win vs. the Amount of $ you COULD "lose" if you get knocked out of the tourney.

In a cash game, yeah, insta-calls.

I would never fold aces in a preflop shove (only if I am in a bubble at sattelite)
AK in a bubble or maybe in some 3-way 4-way all in ... It's all about how important tourney is and what's the situation..

Hi there !!! Yes, there are absolutely times where it is in your best interests to fold AA or AK. An example would be ... Say you get dealt Ace of Clubs Ace of Spades (So you have a monster hand right?) Not so fast ... The flop comes King of hearts, 8 of hearts, 6 of hearts .... Now there is a flush possible on the board. Now 2 people bet into you. Now your AA doesn't look so good. AK can happen the same way. I'm always wary of the cards that come out on the board, AND the way people are betting as they come out. NEVER be afraid to fold a hand !!! Knowing this has helped me alot. Take care !!!

I have folded AA,QQ,55,44,22. When I get AA I treat the hand like 32,72 or 69. Limp in. If there is a shove, consider the previous community cards dealt, then consider the all-inners (does he/she shove often), is the pot worth the potential loss, now FEEL your hand and shove! Don't ever initiate a shove, because the FLOP determines the possibilities and the RIVER either builds your pedestal or breaks it. I am scared of good cards; guess I think cautiously with quick aggression and the Gear changing causes Pause and Thought and sometimes opponents stay Stuck there and fold. Put a little tilt in your game that changes your gears, then return to normal and opponents won't know you are back to simple. Go get 'em!

Good thinking. You salvaged. Read opponents. Your "Calling" judgement is now based on what you have and Reputation of Opponent; don't be surprised when you win. Now, go get 'em!
