Played a marathon session at Parx yesterday and somehow managed to turn my worst session ever into one of my best.

I was up and down for the first few hours before the wheels fell off the cart and I found myself down almost $3k. To be fair, the table was particularly tough and few of my bluffs or bets were getting through. I had my fair share of decent starting hands but they just didn't seem to be holding up. Draws weren't getting there, pairs weren't setting, typical bad session. My bread and butter are the big boy bluffs and if a few of them get picked off you can find yourself in a big hole in no time flat. That's where I was.

I topped off 10 times and by hour 7 I was stuck $2.8k. At this point I had resigned myself to a major losing session, but I was still feeling good and didn't feel like I was at much of a disadvantage so I stuck around hoping to turn my worst loss ever into a merely bad night.

That's when things turned around for me. I pulled off a few big bluffs in huge pots, I turned into a set machine and the hand of the night I won a $1700 pot when I flopped a full house with A9s on an [AA9][J][Q]board. Villain called me down the whole way with A4s.

I stuck around for about 1/2 hour after that and finally cashed out with about $6500 for a $2600 win. Not my best session ever but right up there. Honestly I would have considered it a major win if I had only lost $1k.

So far I'm up about $15k for the year.

Crazy session, congrats on making a profit. Those first 7 hours seemed like a nightmare.

WTG! That casino looks huge! Wish I had something like that nearer to me.

Parx is my favorite poker room. Well managed lots of action, good dealers. It's not close to home but i play there as much as i can when im traveling. Not sure what it is about the place but I'm up $14.5k in ~100 hours over 21 sessions.

I would play with 2 buyins and that's it. Either I was in over my hand and I didn't realize it or something else was wrong and wanted to limit the loss. But I definitely wasn't chasing lost money, that would end in disaster. Good luck on your journey.

If that's what you're doing, chasing lost money, then yes, it may be time to call it a night, but if you're still playing solid poker then you can't just walk away whenever you're stuck a buy-in or two, or even 4. It's more common that not that at some point in every session I'm down. Every hand is a new beginning, your past losses are just that, the past. The only thing that matters is your winrate. The hands you played a minute ago is no different then one you played a year ago.
