One thing that makes live poker unique is the ability to observe other players physically.

Some players look for nervous behavior, chip handling habits, or changes in posture to get information.

Do you actively look for physical tells when playing live, or do you mostly rely on betting patterns?

I look for physical info from opponents. Things like acting too soon before it's their turn, comfort level during a hand, making comments to players next to them during/after a hand and etc.

I play live and I’m always observing how players act while they are in a hand. The best players won’t give away anything. Bad players will do things that give you clues as to their hand strength. The trick is interpretation of these clues, if you can do it correctly then you can really make them pay. So pay attention.

There's lots to study at a table of live poker players . Put in some effort and hopefully your decisions will become more accurate .

Most decisions are made based on an analysis of the player's actions.A deep sigh or rapid breathing often accompanies a bluff, while a calm sigh can indicate the nuts.Actively looking for physical cues is effective when you already understand a player's overall betting pattern.

I think you have to at least keep track of bet sizes and the results of hands played.

Both actually. We're used to betting patterns online, but physical tells are an additional help in live poker, though they are not an exact science by any mean. One should be very cautious before relying on a physical tell alone.
