In my country BB and SB are same size. Is this common in your country?

Hi,

In my country BB and SB are same size. Of course this changes the game a bit. For example in the lowest stakes max buy in is 250€ and min 50€. BB/SB are 2.5€.

Should you steal more and make your range more tight at blinds?

I've never seen this situation before, but it's interesting and definitely changes the game. I certainly would try to steal the blinds more, because for the same risk you can win 2BB instead of 1.5BB.

This actually varies by the rules of the cardroom. Most games in the cardrooms or casino I play offer sb/bb but also some offer 2 bb in every orbit.

As far as I know not at all in my country, that's why we call them SB and BB.

In the low entry fee 9am games at Foxwoods the first round was always 100/100 but it moved to the SB/BB format after that. There was also always a "high hand" contest for that round with the winner receiving his or her entry fee back. Depending upon the table we often kept bets at the minimum for the round to give us all a shot at winning the high hand. Not the best strategy I know, but it was still fun. :)

Not the truth no, in my country we take the normal poker rules without modifying others or seeing variants, which helps us make better decisions to choose who to play with

it took you 4 months to think of that:eek:
but that's what I was gonna say after your post brought it back to life.
it wouldn't be called small blind if they were the same.
but I did hear in your country small and huge were the same :p

Like it was said before me small blind and big blind are named that for the reason that one is smaller than the other. Maybe you are playing in a game with just an ante. That could be why they are the same.

I know that I have seen it somewhere, but can't remember where. The small blind is the toughest position to play, so maybe this changes that dynamic.

Probably trying to generate more action, and for the casino specifically, more rake. I know a bunch of casinos transitioned from $1/$2 NL HE to $1/$3 NL HE. It's always to generate more money for the casinos.

it doesnt make any sense. if sb and bb are the same then the term small blind is an oxymoron because its just another big blind...

It is not recommended because if it were the same size it would not have the same approach to classic poker

Before in my city in the poker clubs I also met same sizes of BB and SB. It was not in all clubs but you could met that and honestly do not know why. As it was mentioned above the name of blinds say big and small so it should be BB and SB.

Totally agree with you.
its to generate more action as the SB and BB are same.

The cardrooms I play are not the same sizes, if would, I would open the range in these cases once the "discount per play/hand is bigger".

About stealing more, maybe... Maybe.
