I’ve only played online so far, but I’m thinking of trying a local live game. For those who play both — what’s the biggest adjustment going from online tables to live ones?

Until yesterday, I only played online poker, but yesterday I played my first live MTT poker game, and what an experience! One of the most crucial differences I noticed compared to online poker is that you can read your opponents much more clearly, which in my case I find difficult to do online. Other than that, it's more about learning some actions that we end up not doing in online poker, since everything is done with buttons and so on.

Another difference you will notice is the number of hands played in a few hours, which is much less than online.

Playing 100s of hands, vs 10s of hands per hour is a big adjustment.
I would say that the other major thing about live poker, is that you actually have live tells, dealing with real people is always much more interesting.

you should play a bit more hands than in online plays, in short, if you wide up your range by 1 pip should work already.

I have played a great deal live and online…the biggest difference is that when I play live poker, I have to wear clothes.

All joking aside, you actually get to see if an opponent has tells that you can take advantage of…there’s no accurate read online.

The game is much more personal! You don't just rely on mathematics, you get information from people's speech and body language! You have a wider chance to gather information!
