I saw in a live tournament, at HU, one of the players asked to make a deal with the prize money, but I didn't understand what that was, how does this "deal" work?

*I don't know how to speak English, I'm using the translator

I try to explain it simply. Deal is a situation where players who are left stop playing. Instead they agree with each other how the prize money will be divided. Usually this is determined by the players stack sizes at that moment.

is an agreement made among the remaining players in a tournament to redistribute the remaining prize pool before the tournament ends. The players can decide how to distribute the prize pool, usually based on chips, or an equal split, and the tournament ends once an agreement is reached.

One time playing in New Hampshire we chose to give whoever wins first place money plus a bonus, then divided what remained in the prize pool evenly between those who finished in the other places. We then went on to play out the tourney. :)

I loved that setup because I've never won first place in a live tournament. I've had seconds, but I want to have a first.

I think what also needs to be added is that whilst a prize split is agreed, there is usually a side amount that is "to play for" as well as the title in a tourney.

Doesn't matter if it's a home game or Vegas, one needs to be clear exactly how the money is to be distributed before agreeing. Don't believe me ask Debi. o_O

Typically, when a deal is proposed, the tournament clock is stopped to allow players to discuss the terms and negotiate. If all players come to a common denominator and agree, the tournament either ends immediately or continues until the actual title holder is determined and any remaining side prize money is fought over.If at least one player still disagrees with the terms of the deal, then either new terms are negotiated or the tournament resumes in its original format.

It is nothing more, nothing less than an agreement between the parties, whether to split the prize 50/50, or to improve the prize for the 2nd place winner. Everything will depend on the agreement they make and reach an amicable conclusion that is beneficial for both parties.

Although I'm Brazilian, I need to answer in English hehehe.. Well, in short, they agree to divide the money according to their stack size. If I'm not mistaken a small amount of prize must be left behind so they can play for that amount but the biggest part of the prize is already within their pockets.

If a single player doesn't agree to the deal, the game continues with the normal prize!

In online tournaments, there is an agreement button for everyone to click and try to reach an agreement, and the division is made according to each one's bets! A smaller amount is disputed at the end of the tournament and players can bet everything in the dark so that the game ends quickly!

Generally, a deal is not good for those who are in the top money positions and have more chips than their opponents. But for players with fewer chips and who are likely to win a smaller prize, a deal is good.
