Are you a poker player or just a poker room employee collecting rakeback?

When your strategy is based more on accumulating hands for the bonus than on finding the best hand, the line becomes blurred. Some players discover one day that they're not winning from their poker skills, but from the return of the rake. Is that still poker, or is it just an office job with pretty cards?

I think someone who can play at so many tables at the same time can be a good player because suddenly you have to make decisions there is not much time there is a card at each table

I’m a poker player. Like most players, I’m trying to improve my game and make better decisions at the table over time.

How do you earn rakeback without playing poker?

At some point, every poker player has to ask: Am I really playing poker, or just grinding hands for the rakeback? When the focus shifts from reading opponents and mastering strategy to simply hitting hand quotas for bonuses, it’s easy to wonder if you’re truly playing the game or just an employee of the poker room, collecting your paycheck in the form of rakeback.

It’s a fine line. Poker should be about skill, psychology, and thrill but when the grind takes over, it can start to feel more like a job than a game.
