You get more points with FH or flush so limping in with a good hand and check call down to the river is a good strategy. The hands don't need to be won at showdown.

However, winning $0.50 is possible AND makes the statement "you can win up to $5K" or even $10K true. If it sounds scam-ish it probably is.
