OPR is back up and they make you sign a release that says if you taunt a player with their stats you can be banned (maybe terminated I forget)

I find the info useful but not essential.

I do think the tracker software available is more of an unfair advantage than OPR

Interesting........... but how does this relate to OPR? OPR doesn't track how a person plays, it merely states what their results have been.
Anytime I've gone out golfing with friends, I happen to know what all of their handicaps are..... due to their results being tracked.

Personally I can't understand why some would object so strongly to having tournament results tracked.
I received an update last week from OPR stating that they expect to have Fulltilt results back on display within a couple of weeks time AND they are currently still tracking each and every tournament result (just not posting presently).
Does anyone have a suggestion (the OPR haters that is) for tracking results for MTT ROI contests? How about how does P5's or one of the other large sites with the online pros keep track of their leaderboards?

I think Fulltilt's notion of banning OPR is a huge negative and that other more appropriate actions could've (should've, can be) taken against players spouting off statistics in the chat on the tables (ie. lifetime chat ban for one).

i agree with full tilt 100 % on this one ..i think it shouldnt be aloud to begin with ...to me it just didnt seem right that u could go and look at a player on that site and know if he is a fish or a great player without even playing him .

I see no difference in reporting any game result that is available to the public just like we see every day on the sports page of the newspaper. If the information is out there and freely available, someone should be allowed to collect and report it as they see fit. Knowledge is power and you'd be foolish not to access any information that you can legally get your hands on.

Who in their right mind would bet on horses without reading the racing form for past performances or at least following some expert's opinions? And don't tell me that's it's not fair for sports stars to see film and follow the statistics of their opponents in action. They'd be foolish not to know that you should make, for example, LeBron James go left when he's driving the ball to the hoop.

Full Tilt Poker (FTP) has demanded us to remove all FTP tournaments and player statistics from Official Poker Rankings (OPR) because they suddenly decided that OPR "gives players an unfair advantage" and works "very similar to how a shared hand history database works".

We don't believe OPR gives players an unfair advantage. OPR is a free site available to all players and in our opinion any player should be allowed to use OPR to follow their progress, for stacking, collusion detection, community discussions, competitions and to see how they are doing in comparison to other poker players.

All the data we collect is publicly viewable at the end of each tournament in the tournament lobby. We do not collect hand histories nor do we provide access to any hand history information. OPR has nothing to do with a shared hand history database.

We have proposed Full Tilt Poker different solutions to keep FTP tournaments on OPR and we hope they will reverse their decision and help us clear this misunderstanding soon. But for now we have decided to follow their demands to remove all FTP tournaments on OPR.

I don't know what the data protection laws are like where you are, but in the UK people have to ask for your permission before publishing information about you. These people don't ask for permission, they just do it.

Where I'm from, whenever you participate in any kind of competition that anyone has any interest in whatsoever, the results will be published. It doesn't matter if you're a pro or not -- it's still news to the other participants, and people generally like to see their names listed in the newspapers, even if it showed they lost. This information is available to anyone who cares to look. I'm just saying that if you compete, you should make yourself aware of the different ways to track your results and those of your opponents. If you don't, whether it's because you are unaware that the information is readily attainable, or that you just haven't bothered to look into it, that's your own fault and probably will have a negative impact on your results against those that are better informed.

I think the point is that the better players need plenty of fish for poker to be profitable, so a constant supply of new players is needed if poker is to remain profitable. When some muppet starts mouthing it off at the table about what somebody's rankings at OPR or sharkscope are, it can make the fish feel less inclined to put their money into poker. That's bad for all of us, and I think that is what Full Tilt were trying to address before they bottled out.

I like the ban and wish all site would ban any kind of information or any of the poker manager/tracker, ect.

But all poker sites should offer a stats tracker on there own site. A few do this already. Then the poker players could share the info with whom the like.

Well, yeah, that is uncalled for. There should be penalties for players berating other players for any reason. The poker sites already have the ability to punish their own participants if they see something that warrants it. No need to eliminate OPR, though, just to police rude (or stupid) players.

NOt necessarily in the UK regarding asking your permission, saw a program the other week where car parking companies pay the dvla for information regarding names and addresses of car owners

As for this thread don't see a big problem if all thay are showing are tournament stats.

Would prefer other software eg poker tracker and other trackng software banned as this gives a far bigger advantage

Poker Stars players are now required to transfer $0.01 to the PokerStars account 'ResultSites' if they wish to opt-out of all result websites.

i think the whole thing is non-sense i never used it track other players only my own stats. it doesn't tell how i got knocked out of a tourney. ie: if i place 1st in a tourney and the next 4 i dont place in the money at all how many of those were my aces or kings cracked. i dont see the advantage. but if people can use it for there advantage so be it... just another knock on full tilt to me.
