I wouldn't really consider it a setback for PokerStars if they are the ones that are cancelling everyone's contract. They brought on their own downfall.

It's been 15 years since the PS went bankrupt and it's still there.

Really not sure how a poker site can go bankrupt, as long as they don't chase all their players away with higher rake & fees and don't keep removing the games that made them popular in the first place

PokerStars feels like it stopped caring about “community vibes” a long time ago. The ambassadors leaving just highlights that shift. Other platforms are leaning into streamers and personalities because that’s where new players come from now. Stars is still huge, but it feels somewaht colder than it used to be. But it is quite sad.

Just to mention Lex Veldhuis as he says also left PokerStars.
Also Wistern is no longer there.
Seem marketing strategies at PokerStars are fokusing other markets than the European.

Both are streaming GGPoker now.

Yep! Lex mentioned it on his profile, but i haven't seen the WPT Global platform officially announce him as an ambassador, just like Wistern.

Both stream GG on twitch (youtube and kick), because of the great streamer deal GG offers.
Upto 100% rakeback for streamers.
So rakeback + stream earnings + action selling = looks like near to 0 variance depending on how big your stream fanbase is.
Lex said he enjoys to be free, whatever this will bring for the future.

Btw, today another player announced the end of partnership with PokerStars.

Now it was Lauriê Tournier, brazilian poker pro. She announced it on her Instagram.

The last one out turns off the light. Who's next on the list? Benjamin Spraggy? I think he's the most active remaining streamer on the platform.

The company was incorporated by Flutter Entertainment and has other companies that support its profits.

Things started to get worse when the platform decided to remove the VIP Rewards system through the program called VIP Steps. The founder of Pokerstars himself said that ending Supernova Elite was a mistake.

I have a theory:

Flutter is expecting that the Malta licensed sites are becoming dying breed due to government regulation. I can't blame them if that's it, world definitely is going towards overly regulated space where you can't do anything anymore and gray markets are therefore booming. Other big sites such as Unibet also did sell their company to large investor group.

Flutter will cut costs and squeeze all the remaining profits out of PokerStars before world moves onto fully unlicensed gambling within few years.

I guess its true that regulation is going to heavily restrict the game, and reduce profitibility.
Though that is true across all industries...

In my opinion, over the past six months, PokerStars has simply decided to become the worst company in its industry. I think they're doomed, so it doesn't surprise me that ambassadors choose other platforms.

Instead of focusing on promotions, advertising and ambassadors, I wish they would improve the buggy and incredibly slow poker software.
Either on my Samsung phone or windows PC it sucks.
Do better WPT.

You may have the best everything else; security, customer service, whitest teeth ambassador, idk, but if you can't do that one thing right there's not much point.
