No i dont think they should be allowed nor am i a fan of any kind of hud at the tables

yes! I think they all should be banned.

When I was first learning to play the only way I was able to even bet correctly was because it was giving me the options to x2 x3 etc.... so in that respect they are needed to a certain extent. Once I went casino all of that is gone so even though I knew the "basics" learning to manipulate actual real physical chips was a steep learning curve. I could play online now with no assistance of betting, as long as there is a box to type in my bet, I could get by. BUT! That would probably slow down the game and a lot of people (especially on Turbo type games) they may not be able to even fire off a bet. It's debatable. As far as real AI "bots" being used by humans to play? I wonder if that is even a thing yet? Hrmmm...

I say ban them all, lets play poker!

I remember carbon used to let you download holdem indicator for free to work with their site, which is $100 software... Everything is competition against other sites.

Of course they should be banned.

And the same must happens with the HUDs. It's time for online poker to return to it's pre-Black Friday era. We can't put real human players and machines playing against each other.

I dont see any big problem with this "smart betting" feature on GG Poker. Its not all that different from the preset bet slicer buttons, most poker sites already offer, and is apparently intended to make it easier to play from a phone.

As a PC player I can already use bet slicer buttons, and as long as the phone player just get suggestions and still need to choose himself, everything is fine with me. However if the program also give suggestions like "check" or "bet 40%", that is taking it to far.

1. HUDs also existed before Black Friday, and can hardly be blamed for US authorities cracking down on offshore sites offering online gambling to people in the US.

2. HUDs dont play poker. They display data (heads up display), which a human player can then sometimes use to make better decisions at the table.

3. "The good old days" are never coming back. This is true in poker as in other parts of live. There is never again going to be a time, where real estate boom money is flowing around in the economy, and where people clueless about poker strategy were ready to dust off stack after stack even at stakes like 100NL or higher.

There is also never again going to be a time, where nobody is regions like Eastern Europe, South America etc. had heard about online poker and figured out, it could be an alternative to a 300$ pr. month day job. And finally there is never again going to be a time, where training sites, solver software etc. did not exist.

A HUD just gathers information that I would be gathering if the HUD didn't do it for me. Having said that should notes then be banned? The HUD just makes it easier. I use the HUD like I would my notes to make a betting decision. I think BOTS that are programmed to play should be banned. But HUDs are just a tool for playing they aren't playing for me.

I am not a fan of the AI Smart betting feature. I don't think it has a place in the normal game of poker. I would expect that everyone would have equal access to this so there should not be an advantage to anyone, but it would remove the advantage that better players would have over weaker players.


I do think it could be a good learning tool for people to learn how to bet. I would not mind a site using it as a training tool, but that should be limited to more of a setting like Advanced Poker Training site rather than in a true poker game.

One note - As I understand it, this feature is not a HUD, but a tool that specifically tells you what action to take. Not a tool that gives you information about players and lets you come to your own conclusion. I am sure far too many players would just blindly follow the tool.

They will need to ban the bots in order to save online poker. Period!

It should be forbidden ! When you play live poker, Are you allowed to use technology ? To save online poker, I believe any technical devices should be banned !

I would not be a big fan of those at all. They simply take the fun away because at that point you're not even playing anymore, you're just letting a machine play for you.
