Hi everyone,
I’m having trouble completing my WPT Global account verification and could use some advice. Here’s the situation:
  • I’m required to submit a proof of address.
  • I do not have any utility/broadband bills in my name.
  • My bank, FNB Botswana, confirmed that all statements only show PO Box addresses, never physical residential addresses.
  • I previously submitted an official municipal/government residence confirmation letter, but it was rejected.
  • I’ve emailed WPT multiple times, requested a manual review, and referenced their verification page stating that government-issued letters may be accepted, but I keep getting the standard automated rejection message.
Has anyone elsewhere faced a similar situation with WPT Global? How did you resolve it?

Hi

Something similar happened in my KYC verfification process, and it took a while. Here in México, if you rent, the utility bills would be under the property owner's name.

I explained this situation by mail and got rejected 3 times (I had to explain again in each occasion). They also asked for a municipal/government residence confirmation letter which doesn't exists here, or at least not in the region I'm living in (again, further explaination of this situation to WPT).

It turned in a redundant discussion back and forth, but all the sudden I got an email confirming that my KYC verification was succesfully completed. I presume that my case was re-assigned to a regional or local customer service site because that last mail I received was in spanish.

It took about 2 weeks to get my KYC verification. My recommendation is to explain in detail the local administrative nuances and maybe you can finally get it done.

@g48lpz They have responded by saying
Hi Ronald,

Thank you for submitting your documents.

However, we could not accept your document because it does not show your registered address.

To proceed and complete the verification process, please send us the following:

1. Proof of address
Valid documents:
Bank statements, utility or broadband bills only (Please provide PDF documents preferably). If you are providing an image of a physical document, please provide a picture, not a scanned image. Please note that Revolut bank statements and mobile phone bills are not accepted.
Requirements: The documents must have been issued within the last 90 days and should be under your name.
Note: As an alternative we can accept official tax payments, social security letters, letters from your municipality or police forces that confirm your address. Basically, any official government-issued letters/documents in your name.

If you don't have utility bills or statements under your name we recommend you to go to your local Police Station and ask for a Certificate of Address under your name.

I will go to the police station to ask for the certificate of address and will update you here on how it unfolds

Yeah, I received similar emails just like those, and I had to reply each of them before they gave me a succesful verification.

Maybe you could try reaching out some customer service agent in the live chat within the WPT app.

Update on my WPT Global KYC verification (Botswana case)

Just wanted to share how everything ended in case it helps someone else.

My ID was approved quickly, but proof of address kept getting rejected multiple times.

Problems I faced:
• My bank (First National Bank Botswana) only shows PO Box addresses on statements, not physical addresses
• I don’t have utility or broadband bills in my name
• My municipal residence letter was rejected
• Withdrawal was also rejected while verification was pending

What finally worked:
WPT asked me to get an official Certificate/Affidavit of Address from my local Police Station. I moved from Gaborone to Rakops, so I explained the address change clearly by email and uploaded the police affidavit showing my current physical address.

After explaining everything in detail and asking for manual review, they approved my account.

Timeline:
About 4 days with several back-and-forth emails.

Advice:
Explain your local situation clearly. Don’t just upload documents. Add context. If you don’t have utilities or bank statements with a physical address, ask your police station or local authority for an address certificate.

Today I received the email: “your account is now verified.”

Hope this helps someone going through the same stress.

That's good, finally! jaja. Another thing to point out is that although I got my KYC verification succesfully completed by mail, I noticed a "rejected" status in the WPT app. I reached out the support team by mail again and they confirmed that everything was all right and that I could ignore that status in the app (I guess because I completed the KYC verification "manually").

That status remains the same until this day but I haven't had any issue with deposits and withdraws and everything works fine in my end.
