Using HUD for online poker?!

Hi everyone,

Are you using HUD while playing online? If so, which ones can you suggest, and on what sites are you using them?

Jivaro is pokerstars-only (has a beta version for America's Cardroom)

I play only PS so this is no issue for me.

It is top notch, displays the stats you need on streets but allows you to click different street than one you are in.

So if you are at preflop you can look at river stats even if you feel you want to plan that far ahead and see how aggressive or passive a player is there.

It gives colored stages of severity (red orange green) red is for very tight or very aggressive depending the stat, green is for very loose or very passive of course.

It lets you use 30 days trial to see if you like it.

I have no complaints. If you want progress graphs or hand analysis after the games however, then purchase HM2 or PT4 as they are the dominators of that.

PT4 is better for more detailed type of player who is playing less tables but analysing far more during and after games. HM2 is better for faster player who wants very CLEAR HUD rather than detailed and very clear color-coded graphs that are adjustable in many ways.

PT4 gives more numbers but helps you less with how to use them.

I would suggest jivaro absolutely if all you want is a pokerstars hud that helps you in situations.

I have Holdem Manager and Omaha Manager but to be honest
I rarely use them, some people find them invaluable but i just
find them confusing, probably cos I havent got it configured right
which seems to complicated for my small brain

I also have Holdem Indicator, Omaha Indicator and
Tounament Indicator which like the above I rarely use, I would rather use my
instincts.

most people that play for a living are using them, casual players its just a nice way to view numbers in long tournaments, your almost better served to make notes on players and have a labeling system if your playing the same game type over a long period of time

I'll try it, in my oppinion any kind of help is like cheating, maybe if I try I'll change my kind of seeing things up

If everyone is cheating then you need to cheat.

It's kind of like nukes, the big players in the world politically all have nukes simply to stop others having nukes being so dangerous to them.

If Japan had had nukes, Hiroshima would never have happened as USA would have known they'd nuke them back hardcore.

That is my thinking too, any kind of help is a sort of cheating.. Besides, on PS u can use labels on players and mark them with any color as well as put notes on them.
Still, I belive many people use them, since every streamer i have ever seen has some HUD for all sorts of numbers and percentages..

Btw, does HUD tell u the odds, as well as pot odds?
For example, on live tournaments and cash games ppl are not allowed to use phones or tablets making them impossible to use some software, also players are not allowed to use lists that tells a player what hands have roughly what odds depending on position and number of players involved...
If HUD does help in that way, players that use it are in great advantage...

Are you able to remember the exact percentage that each player 3betted, or folded to a 3bet? Contination betted on the flop, folded to a cbet or reraised at the flop? Same for turn? Same for river except 'bet' instead of cbet here?

Can you come up with the exact aggression factor of all players at your table even if you are single tabling and paying full attention? I doubt it. The HUD user knows that and a few more stats too, are you prepared to go head to head with them and out-memorize their HUD? Well, while you're paying attention to memorize the stats, they are paying attention to unique reads or playstyles of players that the stats don't pick up while the HUD shows them the stats on top of what they are noticing. You just can't win unless you are like 160+ IQ and cursed/blessed with the inability to forget things (AKA eidetic memory / photographic memory / perfect recall).

Even if you did have perfect recall could you put together all the memories and get all the percentages on all players at all times while still observing unique things like change in playstyle, tilt or specific hands they chase in the given time of your turn?

I doubt it.

It tells you a ratio which is bsically what you should multiply BB by considering pot size, the huger the pot the less a 1BB bet matters so it won't stay as 0:1 / 1:1 (depends how you look at it what the left side should be)

You are confusing pot odds with hand odds.

The word 'can' is why the answer is no, you can play without HUD at low limits and even scrape a profit because most players at low limits either don't use a HUD or on the other hand overly rely on it and don't have unique reads or trick-plays that contradict the stats but are based on a unique tendency of a particular player.

That being said if you have the unique reads PLUS HUD you are undeniably better than yourself minus HUD so why not use it?

Idk, I don't deny it helps but if everyone is using it at higher stakes and higher stakes are where I'm aiming for then I need to get very used to it even while I'm a low stakes player, that's how I see it now.

The premium version literally has more statistics... The free version has only VPIP PFR and AFq... Wouldn't suggest jivaro free for anyone to really profit.

Get a 'real job' at first for some money if you are truly broke.

I really enjoy driveHUD. The hud is fully customizable and the off table analysis part of the software is an absolute gem. You can even export hands formatted for this forums hand analysis section. I've yet to have a problem with it. It is a subscription based service, but I believe I pay less than $10 a year for the micro stakes package.
