I can tell my story (as I have been betting daily for over 18 years now). I'll tell you straight away - I'm a minus player in betting. I bet a lot, sometimes I lost a month's salary on excitement..... but a miracle happened. I stopped betting big and created my own betting strategy. I also have a rule: I can only bet the money I make online. It's easier that way... and poker helps me a lot. Because in poker I am a plus player unlike in sports betting.

I had a friend who went too far with casino machine slots. He literally spent whole pay check in casino the day he got it. It happened few times and it was ugly to see. He always had feeling that if he throw more money that he will get it all back. But that was more of a side problem. The worst was him borrowing money...first from friends, later from parents, and alcohol didn't help either. I heard a saying once. If you don't want to be friends with someone, borrow him money. Yes, it's sad, but I know a few people who ended up picking up trash on the street and if they manage to make some money, they keep betting, for some it's like a cancer. But not all the world is the same, others have something special. I am neither for nor against

I came close to it myself, I had a bet especially on Horse and Dog Racing every day, Trying to make some Big money, using Accumulating bets like Round Robins, Yankees and all sorts of different strategies. Yes Some days I did well, but most of the Time I lost money.
I was lucky in that before I decided to get Married I quit gambling, but I know many who couldn't. I had one Friend that would be in the Bookies most days and at night he went to the Local Bingo Hall, always trying to win it big. One day he actually Won £11,000 on a Football Game and I said to him Put some of it away for when you need it, but no! he put a deposit on a new Car and lost the rest over a period of about 4 weeks, Eventually he lost the Car as well. Because he couldn't keep up with the payments.
There is an Old saying "A Fool and his money are soon Parted!" and there is No Bigger Fool than a Hardened Gambler!

Sports betting is a disastrous business. when you lose large sums (and you lose), you want to win back, which leads to even bigger losses. Remember, people are playing, not numbers. and no casino and no bookmaker will work in the negative.
