Spring at Augusta National is a staple part of my yearly sporting calendar with what is for me, the most beautiful golf course in World Golf.
With play to get underway on Thurs 9th April, its hard to look past Scottie Scheffler if he hits form but ive a feeling this could be Cameron Youngs year or Matt Fitzpatrick/Justin Rose.

Whose your pick this year?

If you are new to golf or curious, the scenery alone around Augusta National is truly stunning and worth a watch..

Our TV will only have golf on it Thurs-Sunday. My husband watches every minute of the Masters. I only watch it on the last day lol.

Some key players are missing this year - Tiger Woods apparently has a serious drinking problem. While I realize alcoholism is a disease - I have no respect for him getting behind the wheel of a car so happy he is missing it. He dug his own grave.

When it gets down to the last day I always want the underdog to win so will wait until Sunday to figure out who I would like to see win. Who do you guys want to see win this year?

I’m excited and a little upset Tiger will not be playing. I think it was pain meds not booze. Hopefully he’s ok, if addicted it’s a disese and not to be cheered

Tiger wasn't really a serious competitor in this competition, due to the damage his previous car crash (not this one, the one prior) did to his body and the effect it tends to have him on later on in tournaments. An outsider at best I'd say. That said, it's a shame he's not going to be part of it.

AFAIK (and I might be wrong) , I think it was prescription drugs rather than alcohol that caused his most recent car crash - this is still extremely irresponsible, though I wonder how common it is in the states, where these (particularly opioids) are prescribed far more frequently than they ought to be.

Would love to see Fitzpatrick or Fleetwood win it, they've both got the right game for Augusta and are in form.

You are correct - it was painkillers. Still shouldn't be driving but not as bad as being drunk.

I have a separate thread i set up the other day asking CCers who their pick is this year - on this subject though, i have zero sympathy for Tiger as i have dealt personally with the victims of road traffic issues and he had a choice and part of his issues are that he keeps making bad choices - i love Tiger as a player, always have and always will but i hope he finally gets the help he needs and accepts that help - its a long journey ahead for him.
In terms of picks for The Masters - im going for three options, Cameron Young/Fitzy or Aberg...im gonna be glued to it as i love the Augusta National.

Day 1 and it has to be said - both Rory and Scottie are looking a class act, early days however but a fast start at Augusta is essential, below par numbers on the board is key - any score 70 or below is good.
The course is playing hard though, as the next few days progress - spin will play more of a role but right now its bumpy!

I bet on Burns @21/1 for $2 after yesterdays round was over. I liked the 21/1 odds considering there's 2 rounds left(that's a lot on a tough Masters course where anything can happen). Before the end of the round when Rose doing well I took him @8/1 for $5 just before Rory went on his run. That should make the weekend watching a bit more interesting.

Cheers!!!

The Masters 2026. Rory on absolute fire.
If he shoots 70 or better today - hes going to be hard to catch i feel in round 4 but this course breaks hearts and makes dreams, tee to fairway is crucial and pin placements will change so the challenge is real.
Scottie had a poor day yesterday so im expecting a big round from him today.
I just feel this is a different Rory we are witnessing, lets see...

Dechambeau was my pick, so what do I know? Rory looks in total control. It is so dry here, the greens are just going to keep getting formed and faster

Yeah agree Pirate this feels like a completely different Rory now that the pressure of winning a green jacket is gone. Wish I hadn't had made that Rose bet now but I made it before Rory's run yesterday. I would have always taken Burns at 21/1. I feel those are great odds at the Masters with 2 rounds left being within 7 strokes on the lead and how hard the course is. But I guess we'll see what happens.

Cheers!!!

Augusta National Weather forecast for the weekend...

With no rain forecast over the weekend, Augusta's famously undulating greens are expected to become increasingly fiery as the tournament nears its conclusion.

Got to get that tee shot right..approach play crucial now.

Well hes human (Rory) and a third round 73 has left it wide open at the top with a bunch of guys within touching distance.
My pre tournament pick Cam Young is showing us why he is joint leader with some inspired play.
The Scheffler did what the Scheffler does and roared back to -7 and only 4 off the lead...on this course, going out early and posting a 67 or better could be enough...
Its a superbly close final day...at least 8 players in with a shout of Masters glory..

Been an interesting and entertaining Masters so far....the Final round should make for a great watch with so many guys capable of winning it.

Sergio had a good start :ROFLMAO:...he then asked Rahm caddy if he could carry Rahm's bag up the course as an apology to him :ROFLMAO:. He ended up carrying Rahm's bag.

Cheers!!!

The real funny part is as former champion and with how far back he is today Sergio really isn't playing for anything. As he gets into the Masters every year being a past champion so doesn't need to make the top 12 this year who also all make next years Masters. Can't imagine there's any pay jump back as far as he is that means anything too him.

Cheers!!!

Indeed like who doesn't want a lifetime invite to play the Masters every year. I assume it's just a case of Sergio having a bad day or something going on in his personal life away from golf.

My boy Rose taking the lead (y).

Cheers!!!

Dam not looking good for Rose now. Feels like he's losing it here after the last 3 holes and now that shot.

Cheers!!!
