what kind of hands do you think they have, when you call their raise on flop?
on turn they bet more than half the pot, so its seems pretty strong.
on river now you both had about 50k stack with 65k pot & with how they bet on previous streets im not surprise w/ the shove.
so IMO the flop & turn are the most important decision to make here.
if you had collected good infos on how they play their bluff & value their strong hands, then this kind of call might be good long term.

The play was good but depending on your thought process. Big blind was obviously thinking you were stealing blinds and you were until you hit top pair on the flop. Big blind probably has nothing or he would have raised you pre-flop. There is the off chance that he was trapping pre-flop but this is unlikely. So you bet standard on the flop for top pair and he raises to bluff you off of what he thinks is your bluff. It doesn't work and he becomes increasingly desperate, because if he actually had you beat he would likely take a more trappy approach. Usually when villain starts spewing like that after a weak preflop bet, they are behind and are trying to bluff you off your cards.

Overall yes, it is not a great play because your hand was weak on the button but you hit the flop and capitalized for the best possible outcome.

I had info that he was kinda loose, and since it was the bubble of the tourney he would do this with nearly no value hands. The raise on the flop was very big, and so was the turn and river bets. The only value hand that I thought he would play like this was AT (as a bluff on the flop and value turn and river). That's why I made the call, but even by having this info and thought process I'm not sure I should be calling 40 blinds with such a marginal hand

It would be curious to hear the course of your reasoning when you decided to protect the explosive with a 3cTs hand. After the flop, even a person who does not play poker would have to understand: something is not folding. CALL on the river ??? I think you should not delay a visit to the doctor. Please excuse me no comments.

I'm pretty sure you misread the hand. Give it another try
