AJ OS UTG with 11 BBs

Hi. I pushed earlier with AJ OS UTG in a MTT on stars. I think we were just coming to the bubble ( I never look anymore ) and I'm still wondering if I was right. I lost the hand to 88 I think. Do any of you fold this ? Or always ship it ? Thanks for reading 👍 this is my first post 👌

near the bubble i might fold aj off. Maybe you can min raise or bet 3bb and fold when someone shoves all in preflop. aj is a strong preflop but while in a 6 max table that would be a good shove in 9 player table i think i might raise fold in that spot or just fold preflop. aq,ak and any pair better than eight is an automátic shove imo maybe even a pair of sevens or sixes is good to shove in that spot. aj is a strong preflop hand, not that strong though especially when is offsuit.

That's an incredibly standard shove in an mtt with 11 bbs left. Unless you really need to make the money then you should fold, but if you're playing to win the tournament, you should jam every time. You cannot ever raise/fold with 11 bbs as the last person said. If you open for a min raise you must call it off if 3 bet. What better hand are you going to get dealt before you blind off? You need to have enough bb's left when you shove to have some fold equity, because if you fold down to 5 bb's, even if you shove with a strong hand, you're likely to called by at least 2 or 3 players, which makes you almost guaranteed to be a dog vs the field.

Definitely a shove with 11bbs. You are under the gun so you are about to get hit with blinds again and who knows if you will have a hand as good as AJ when the time comes to shove.

I agree with the shove. It always sucks when you run into AK or AQ or loose a flip but a lot of the time you'll pick up the money on the table. And a lot of the time a larger stack will call you with a weaker ace too. Definitely a shove.

he can totally min raise here. If op is playing 6max thats an automatic shove however in a full ring table aj isnt that strong and with a min raise or 2.5bb bet you still have 9 or 8.5 blinds left. Keep in mind that near the bubble most players range are tighter. If a loose player 3 bet you should shove all in however if a tight player goes all in or 3 bet after your raise i think folding is the right option in this spot. Players wont usually 3 bet someone who raises utg especially near the bubble and when they do most of the time they will have at least aj or a middle pair maybe they could have a10 or kq however in most cases your hand will be dominated or you will be in a coinfllip situation.

Jes ship it is okish or second possibility is fold (but i do not like folding here in general)+AI pre makes even more sense if there is ante involved! Note that it is basically the last stack where you might have some fold equity!

3bet/fold - do not even think about it - it is terribad EP+given stack size+near possible bubble!

limping with your stack size EP - also terribad!

Summary: go AI or fold

I was gonna do it this way but then just pushed. I think you're right about the 6 max game. Also I would then be BB next hand so raise fold is hard. Thanks for the advice. Might try it your way next time

Nicely put . What do you think of a raise call it off if he raises , but then maybe 88 just calls pre and I shove the flop? Maybe he will fold flop then or maybe he would never just call pre when I'm so short after raise. ? Maybe he just shoves with 88. ? Thanks for the advice.

There is a program called ICM Trainer.You should use it to calculate your equity depending on your position and chip stack(in BB's) (mainly) and on your opponents chip stacks.
Its an awesome program that teaches you to the very basics of push and fold strategy when you are in such a spot like you were.
I definitely recommend it to you and as you train you will get better at this kind of decisions,also you will make them quickly.
There are a lot of materials in internet for ICM,once again i strongly recommend it to you.It will definitely improve your game.

I think this is definitely a standard shove. However, I do see the case for a min raise or 3BB bet and then either fold to a raise or shove depending on the player. This bet could make your hand look stronger and you could get everyone to fold and then you take the blinds and can hopefully get a good hand in a better position than UTG. I'd personally shove, but I can definitely see the argument for not shoving.

If you need the money bad probably is the saftiest way to fold it and wait a better hand but it's a standard open shove little unlucky

It s not good hand when I push with first position. But if I have only 8BB i olways push. This intermediate solution

I know it's wrong to play it, but I have a hard time folding AJ late...

Hole in my game, but it pays enough to keep getting me in trouble.

Since you say you were going to be the BB the next hand, this means you are UTG, and that's a little bit of a tougher decision IMO. In a late position with everybody folding or limping in front of you, I think it's an automatic shove. In an early position, I think a min-raise would suffice, then you can reassess depending on what the others did. At bubble time, often a min-raise gets people out, or at least they are hesitant to raise unless they absolutely have a monster. Then you can decide if you want to do a coin flip for your tourney life, or just hang on a little longer to get into the money.

It is wrong.AJ is not that hand you cann push in earlyposition, you shoud wait for for a better hand.
