Hi everyone,
Recently been playing a lot of sit n go’s such as single table with 6 or 9 people but also played some of the bigger ones with 45 people in with 9 at the table and was wondering for those who play sng’s their preference if it’s single table and with how many people or multi table

my favorite sit and go tables are 45 or 180 multitables, there is more variation, and we have more opportunities to apply our strategies, learn more

I think, 45 man SnGs are great, because they are like a mini MTT and gives good final table practice. As far as I know, no sites have traditional 45-mans any more, but both PokerStars and ACR have "on demand" SnGs, which are a bit of the same. On PokerStars there are 18-45 man "on demand" SnGs from 25c to 5$, and most of the time they fill creating the same payouts as a 45-man.

Unfortunately anything "on demand" on ACR and anything above 1$ on PokerStars are now turbos. And for that reason my second favourite among SnGs are regular speed 9-mans, which still run frequently on most sites. I dont hate 6-mans, but if I had to make a choise, 9-mans suit me better, and they are also far more popular.

PokerStars dont even have 6-man SnGs any more, and on ACR or 888 Poker they dont run as often as the similar 9-mans. So if you want to pick just one format to specialise and become really good at it, then definitely go for 9-mans rather than 6-mans. 9-man SnGs can be played on almost all poker sites, and if SnGs continue to decline in popularity, 9-mans will likely be the format, which survive for longest.

i for 6 max. 1) I disagree here either. Due to the looser play from both regs and fish, opponents are more likely to make gross mistakes that increase the winrate of a strong regular. 2) hu more often, namely in it you can maximize the advantage over the weaker player. In addition, the tournament goes less, which means XA with larger blinds, which also gives more room for maneuvers. Regarding the number of participants, we can draw an analogy with a 45max tournament, where a lot more players are thrown off, but let's say at 45max for $ 7 ROi will fluctuate 12-17% for a regular, while at 6max ROI will not be much less: 7-12%. It's not about the number of players, but about the space for maneuvers.

6-max STT for sure. As soon as you get into any kind of MTT you're relying more on premium hands and luck. You get to "play" poker as opposed to waiting for the best hand before playing. Not great for nits. Lags love it.
